Hard to know where the Barrass rumours are coming from but if they’re to be believed it sounds like Sydney are the ones chasing Barrass. As opposed to us shopping him around or Barrass looking to jump for that matter

It’s up to them to come up with a sufficient trade proposal.
My opinion has always been pick 6 should be sufficient. WC fans feel his value should be more.

What fans here have suggested, is a price similar to what the Lions payed Freo for a contracted Neale. I don't see that as a reasonable valuation.

Cleary on Tradies, said he has heard it from multiple people at different clubs. I think he mentioned those "people" work in the recruiting space.

They then went in to a discussion about Barrass's value. McClure said pick 6 was too much, more likely valued around pick 12. Then they discussed what pick 6 "should" get Sydney, and that's when West Coast potentially paying some of Barrass's contract was brought up.

Yeah no argument from me that pick 6 would be sufficient.

If they improve in the home stretch and make finals it gets tricky as a pick outside the top 10 is a bit meh

If Giants lost Himmelburg and TB was happy to play in Sydney they could also be keen.

And they may have picks around 5, 6 and 9/10.

I would definately look at a better pick if we paid some of his salary. He's likely on $750k, offer to pay $250k times 2 or 3 years. We save $250k per year and spend less than $250k on the new draftee over the period.

The problem with this is that McGovern is simply not on the park enough.

Unfortunately, he is the opposite of a durable player.
Last year it was a freak impact injury. Any game he misses over the next two years is a game for Bazzo and Edwards.

Surely you've seen what our backline looks like with TB and Gov?
We would get slaughtered.

When have they been playing together in recent years?

If poor team defence is the issue what is TB going to save us from?

The worst thing about Daniel Curtin is that for a while there he was so gettable.
The inference is he'd be a mid-first round pick, a 5-10 type.
All of a sudden, as so often happens, the Moirs and the Duursma's have gone right down and Curtin has flown up.
No chance we end up with Pick 1 and 2.
If the unthinkable happens and we end up having 2 (through ladder position), sign him up. I don't see it though - we're getting the spoon.

I’d be happy to trade out Barrass if we got Denver Grainger-Barras.

All we’d be losing is one letter S

And getting a bloke that is so bad Mitchell hasn’t picked him despite having a spot for a tall defender most of the year and has been going so badly in the vfl he has had to be moved forward in the past couple of weeks… he is a complete potato

TB - pick 6 and 22, we pay 250k of his salary for it.

No issues on my side. Go hard at the draft while we can before Tasmania. And this forces either HEdwards, Bazzo, Jaimeson or JWilliams to come good and own it (sink or swim).
H.Edwards is ont he delist pile. Bazzo isnt ready. Do like idea of giving Jamieson a go. JWilliams more a forward

We wont like it but we know its going to happen

Barass to Sydney for Pick 6 etc

Mitch McGovern to WCE on a 2 year deal

Where there's smoke there's often fire. Barrass to Sydney is really gathering momentum. Reports of Brisbane, Essendon and Bulldogs won't change his value at the trade table, he'll nominate his destination so there won't be a bidding war.

Sydney with it's list profile and access to their academy can afford to part with their first rd pick and not feel guilty.

If they offer their current pick 6, I think that's the sweet spot of Barrass' value/what we'd be willing to trade him for. If Sydney finish the season well and end up with pick 10-12, that's not enough for Barrass. If Richmond & Carlton jump above them and they're holding pick 4, I don't reckon they part with it.

Barass gets to go where he wants to go. Been very good for the club. I would not move him elsewhere for such a measley upgrade in either case

Off to Sydney he goes with a big round of applause on his return

Trade Barrass for 6 and 22 and pay a portion of his salary.

I wonder if North would interested in trading pick 2 for our F1 (1 to 4) plus 22 (Swans) as well need to throw a sweeter

Hit the draft with 1,2,6,21, 34,38

Reid AND Curtin only is a killer draft

Doubt it, reckon North will want Curtin for themselves. If he has a good enough champs, they may just consider him over Reid, even if they finish last.

I see the Jamieson to the backline idea trotted out a bit.

I just don't see it.

I have no doubt he could be potentially effective on leading forwards but I have serious doubts he'll ever be able to match AFL level forwards in the 1-1s. Which would be pretty easily exploited.

He's about to turn 23, are we really expecting him to turn into a physical beast in the next 2-3 years?

I don't expect him to be on the list, but I expect Bazzo to be a physical beast in 2-3 years and be our closing in on our #1 KPD.
