Also sheezel could very well end up being the best player from last years draft, I’d say he is at the moment and wardlaw won’t be far behind either if he can stay on the park

Got a feeling it'll have to involve 3 clubs at a minimum or it won't happen. Either way it's not our problem to orchestrate it.

Norf hold the cards for access to Curtin. If another club wants to butter them up then come back to us, that's on them.

In the meantime....

THREAD: Should Harley be our next captain, yes or no?

Discuss.
I've long been of the opinion that whatever option makes Kane Corne the angriest must be the most correct. It's a simple creed but it will never steer me wrong.

He makes zero sense for us, for a team like Port or Sydney etc. sure he is useful to them and worth a pick in the 25-40

Don't you just love Chinese whispers. I think posters should maybe read posts before responding.

What I actually said was "I wonder if Melb would offer someone like Grundy & Petty to NM for #3.l (if McKay left and NM got #3). Then they may come to us and offer pick 3 & 5.

everyone on here for the next few months

The Vic footy show made a good point about North. They have been the worst team for the last 3 years and 2nd worst this year but don't have the best player in the draft on their list for any of them. JHF left and Daicos was F/S anyway, JUH was father son to the Dogs, Ashcroft was father son to the Lions and now this year they miss out on Reid unless they cough up a bit.
Sheezel could be the best player from his draft.
Hell, wardlaw could be too with a decent run with injuries
Its just unfortunate they cant be the best players from their draft at the same time

Just take Harley Fookin Reid & get creative elsewhere. Trade out players, Salary Cap Dump, package some picks together and move up the draft.

What would Collingwood give for say Darling?
Id like to think we could send Gaff & Sheed elsewhere too. Build up some picks elsewhere.

If we got Allen, Maric, Williams × 2, Watermelon?, Ryan coming back? Culley who can also play a tall fwd role if needed. I think Waterman is even likely to look elsewhere. Maybe send him to Freo. They could do well with him & Amiss.

Do the Suns currently have enough points to cover all their NGAs? Hearing both sides

They will cover it easily.

They're not far off already for a worst case bidding scenario (from their point of view) and once they split pick 4, the points surplus that will come back to them will be substantial.

If we trade Reid i'll say we're no longer ruthless. Ask your self this how many clubs would trade away Reid? GWS wouldn't, Geelong wouldn't, all these clubs would back themselves in.

I seriously don't know why this is a discussion, he's the best player in the draft. Since when do you not take the best player? We're trying to find reasons to not take him and justify the decision and it's not the right way of thinking.

Draft him in 2 years time if he wants to leave, we will have the exact same offers similar to JHF.

IF we trade Reid it can only be with Norf, if we trade with Melbourne we wont draft Curtin which would be the whole point of making the trade.

Also the talk about leaving after 2 years doesn't make sense to me, we're not norf with 25k members. I think it would be after multiple years if he leaves which is fine because we would be playing finals footy then and can still get a return when we trade him.

McGovern could be good one on one, he’s just doesn’t want to play as a lockdown defender and won’t.
To be fair some of the goals that fraud Tex kicked were due to turnover in midfield. He hasn't laid a tackle all year.

Big bad tex might have kicked 9 but he will retire next year with zero premierships.

All we need to do is get the "Harley" chant going at Optus and he'll stay forever.

I will save everyone 3 months of thinking about it.

Here is a run-down on draft night.

Gill comes on.

With Pick#1 of the 2023 NAB AFL Draft, the West Coast Eagles have selected Harley Reid from the Bendigo Pioneers.

Then Kevin Sheehan will do some commentary saying the words such as elite at least 3 times.

Brad Johnston will provide words of no substance with annoying giggles and excitement in between, and then finally Sarah Jones cuts over to Kingy.

David King reluctantly shows Harley's highlight packages, knowingly regretfully he won't be a North but will get through it with that annoying copyright free music in the background.

Then, an interview with Harley saying he is happy to be drafted and going to West Coast.

Pity no Tom Morris interview with Harley Reid this year.

Depends if Gold Coast are willing to give us pick 4.

If not, Walter will go at no.1 when we place a bid on him.
