What if Melbourne offered 5, van Rooyen and Grundy?

d95.gif

Nope. Grundy being the sticking point in that one. It'd be totally pointless trading for him to add to a rebuilding side

Would prefer 5, 15 and JVR. Or 5, JVR and F1.

Would you take it, or stick with pick 1?

Stick with pick 1.

Brockman is worth peanuts anyway. Taken at pick 50 odd, out of contract and desperately wants back to WA. Throwaway pick at best.

Which leaves what... 3 and Hawks F1? With the rate they've improved already in only the early stages of their rebuild, I'd be expecting that pick to end up around the 8-10 mark.

The idea of a GODFATHER OFFER is that it is incredibly one sided and too good to pass up. All the suggestions I'm reading are borderline, which tells me to just take Harley.

The AFL will have pitch forks at there gates if they allow Riley sanders to walk for nothing to norf.

At the least I suspect the AFL will make norf match any selection bid. If that happens clubs will keep norf honest. That's where they'll need pick 5

Huge for Norf anyways

Pretty much what Dom sheed pocket said.

The discussion on our board was about North having to match a bid on Sanders, probably coming in the 6 to 12 range, and whether we should try and trade for pick 14.

I mentioned the bit from the Clarko interview, as that pricked my ears, as such a comment sounded like discussions between North and the AFL a must be well underway, and similarly between North and GC.

It works for all parties concerned. The AFL shouldn’t have to hand out much more official assistance to North.

GC don’t have to match a bid on Walter until pick 4, saving them a shed load of points.

West Coast get pick 1, to use or trade as they see fit.

(had my tin foil hat on, to explain the GC loss to Norf)

Yes, not a good deal.

Please don’t overthink this Pie man.

Anything else Hawthorn could throw in there to make it more enticing?

I don’t rate Van Rooyen as highly as some do, I think he’s a good forward prospect, but not a great one, I want someone with more size to partner Oscar as well.

As for Grundy, no. His contract is awful even with Collingwood paying a portion of it, he’s declining, one dimensional and he doesn’t fit our timeline at all either.

So no I wouldn’t do that deal, I wouldn’t even consider it.

What about 5, JVR and Rivers lol?
Or 5, 15 and Rivers?
They probably won't trade Rivers, but it depends on how much they want Reid lol.

Pick 3, Hawthorn’s future first and Brockman for pick 1?

Assuming North don’t get pick 3 for McKay.

(Yes, I know we could walk Brockman to the PSD. But how likely is that, in all honesty?)

I wouldn’t do it, I think Hawthorn are going to explode soon and it very well may be next season.

Their future 1st will end up being in the 7-11 range at worst imo and that’s in a compromised draft.

Bit of draft discussion on our board in regards to North, and I contributed the following.

I wouldn’t be surprised if North use pick 14 as part of a trade package for Gold Coast’s pick 4.

In The Round So Far episode today, they played a clip from Clarko’s press conference, where Clarko discussed the win and the draft ramifications, and mentions they’ll still get good kids at picks 2, 3 and 5.

The only way North get picks 3 & 5, is the AFL give pick 3 as compo for McKay, and if they trade for the now pick 5 from Gold Coast.

GC might favour that trade if it means North doesn’t bid on Walter at picks 2 & 3 as well.
Nice to think that but I would bid on Walter at 1. If he is not matched, we get a top line KPF returning to Perth to a club he supports. If Suns match, you take Reid and have deflected the tag as number 1 to the under performing Suns.

This leads to a wonderful conversation with Harley. Show how clubs got emotion ahead of competitive juices and hence Pies addded Hill because Norf did not bid Daicos

Sorry QLD - it is a fight

Still 3 months to argue about who to pick
Oh goodo

Brockman who had his best year averaging 11 touches 0.9 goals and 2.2 tackles is not worth a pick in the top 40 .

He was a late pick , desperate to come home , was subbed out twice this year for having shocking games and we have pick 1 in the pre-season draft . Pick 55 if we are feeling generous and he doesn't come so be it .

Our 4th rounder is the best I'd offer. Currently pick 57, or preferably the PSD.

Has anyone confirmed that Gov is injured? Otherwise, if any player decides to play a script in game with the understanding a loss is better than he needs to go.

We need competitors who hate losing more than they love winning.
Gov always puts his body on the line for the team , look back to the Bulldogs game last week ..
I take it you don't watch WCE very often

Melbourne picks for pick 1....
5,15,24 and a future first with a couple of our late picks going back will likely be what's on the table...

It’s a deal we shouldn’t even consider, I think Melbourne will target the Suns 1st and then come to us offering 4 and 5. I’d still say no, especially if North get pick 3 for McKay.

Anything else Hawthorn could throw in there to make it more enticing?

Probably go back to the drawing board and try to get Fold Coasts pick 4.

So 3, 4 for 1 with some added steak knives tacked on either way to round out the deal.

If getting Fold Coasts pick isn't feasible... 3 + 30 + 49 + F1 + Brockspud + DGB

For

1 + 57 + 75 + F5 + Vardy.

Then we could take what... 30, 35, 38, 49 to buy back up the order somewhere? I don't even know. Either way it looks unappealing on face value.
