Both Jones and Duggan are left footers.

The problem is, take out Gov and Barrass and you're left with spuds.
Hough being the exception.
3 out of 22 on weekend, that is 14%, 5 out of 42

Very predictable which way we instinctively move the ball.

Someone who follows draft stuff tell me - if he’d have waited until the National draft, where would his likeliest range be? Are we picking up a top 25 guy here, or just an interesting midfield option down the line.
Knightmare has him as a 1st rounder in the national draft.
Definitely exciting if thats the case
KM has been known to champion left field picks to appear to be edgy and not following the general consensus tho.

Pretty sure this is Knightmare's (aka Chris Doerre) comments on ESPN re: first round talent:

1. Jai Culley

An overage forward and midfielder, the 193cm Culley has a case for being this draft's best kick, with his penetration, precision kick placement, vision, and the composure he shows with ball in hand. Culley is a weapon who takes strong contested marks, hits the scoreboard heavily, moves well, finds a lot of the football, and plays a high impact per possession game. Culley performed strongly in his first two rounds for Dandenong and was the standout in the Young Guns vs. Vic Metro game, kicking four first half goals, while managing game-highs of four score assists and two contested marks. If there were no mid-season draft, Culley would be worth a first-round selection at season's end.

How crazy that a guy who isn't involved in drafting and recruitment is indeed interviewing a player prior to the draft.

What an utterly bizarre turn of events.

To be fair we have first choice so thats a crazy first.

Im now getting excited.

Unless Simo turns up with O'Brien and Culley's cat attacks Simo and Culley's mum serves vegan party pies with sault free tomato sause ......well........looks like Culley is our guy!

:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :eek::$:$

So assuming we take culley with our first who does everyone think we'll take with our second.
Of the realistic targets that could be available I'm hoping for one of
Browne or voss
Browne adds to our young midfied stocks and Voss could be a better option than half our HBFers in a year when we should cut deep with our delistings

Eagles team list, insight into who we are picking up?

View attachment 1412573

You'd imagine we take him with pick 2 if he's there, but don't read too much into the website being accurate. It had Logan Young on there for the longest time this season and he's only on the Beagles list.

Surely if Simpson played a key role in the draft, he'd have met the kid before it was already widely known we're taking him.

If we already know we're taking him 1, why would you not have Simpson meet with him?

Browne maybe, but there is no way in hell Voss makes it to the second round.

With the state of our list, not sure why we wouldn’t use the second pick - even if Cole can play a handful of games max (let him sit out). Need to use every opportunity we can to take a look at new players. I don’t mind Florenca at pick 2. Ready to go and better than most if not all of our second tier mids. Need mature bodies protecting the kids and can help the transition. And yes Shuey should retire. Keep Redden

They rarely go the obvious pick, it always seems like they think they are playing 3d chess, while to everyone else it looks like blindfolded checkers.
Given we've rarely had top draft picks, largely because we regularly make grand finals, I have to assume our drafting overall has gone alright.

Can you imagine if the team drafts a player that this board wanted?
Oh jesus christ, if he turns out to be good, this place will be unbearable. I hope he's out of the league by August

David King had an argument with Cornes the other day. King's point was, "Those North recruiters quit because they were copping stick over their selection when it fact it's coach who outlines the go to market strategy". Specifically, North chose some spub over Logan McDonald and King was saying the coach had a mandate/strategy to build the midfield first so the recruitment team didn't even consider McDonald.

Also consider Tim Kelly. Sure Simmo makes the call that they're going to go all in for the flag?
