The problem i have with retaining our veterans is that Simpson seems absolutely hell bent on his "senior player" selection mindset

Meaning that if these senior guys are still on our list, they are playing in our best 22 (irrespective of their form)

If Simpson had set some sort of precedent that he would be prepared to play our senior guys in the WAFL, and play the kids in their stead, it would look better

But he won't. So it might just be better if we move our veterans on. Or else next season will be rinse and repeat with our veterans making some extra superannuation in 2023

Or you could look at as he cost us a Brad Hill or Lachie Neale in the 2011 draft.

Did we need another Ruck with Cox, Naitanui and Lycett on the list....maybe not.
Did we need another tall with Kennedy, Darling, McKenzie, Glass, Lynch, McGovern on the list...maybe not.
Was he beating the door down as one of the best prospects in his draft year...deinitely not.
Could we have won more premierships with the players we could have taken in that specific draft or the drafts afterwards where he clogged up the list...more than likely.

A loyal player would know when to call it quits. Just ask Kennedy.

Have we had all our senior players fit and available this season? No we havent.

And when we have had atleast some decent senior player numbers available we have been able to make a contest and not get flogged.

My point was that we have looked like a second rate side for most of the year so I'd rather look like a second rate side with potential next year than a second rate side with all the same old, same old guys running around.
Do you think we'll have all our senior players fit and available at the same time next year? I very much doubt it.

It was actually predicted at big frase could go to GWS fairly early in the draft. Sure in the early years they used to reach a fair bit for specific needs but i guess he was rated pretty highly
