How do they release a new flu vaccine every year if it takes 10 years. But it’s this years strain?

Because it’s not a novel virus. The flu is a known virus that mutates slightly every year, and as northern and Southern Hemispheres are opposite, they are able to work out which strain of vaccine that already exists will be most beneficial for that year. The corona virus is novel, meaning new. It may be in a few years time we’ll be living with the virus but have to get seasonal vaccinations for it like we do now with the flu. But right now, we don’t have that luxury.

Deputy CMO said in his presser today that the family can travel to Mt Gambler to continue treatment & if needed to WCH.

When the hard border was announced, it was made clear that people needing Healthcare was one of the exceptions.

The likes of shopping though is banned, which will inconvenience many on the border.

If Mt gambier isn’t their normal specialist how is that a good outcome. They need to go to the same Doctor for continuity.

Given the chaotic management of this pandemic by the Victorian leadership & key agencies... It's a huge concern how long it will take to get under control.

Still not known who was in charge of the Quarantine operation which was amateurish with unskilled staff in charge of infectious people.

Early warning signs ignored.

Hospitals refused to take infectious residential care patients where there were major outbreaks. Why did DHHS fit out the older unused hospitals if they weren't going to use them when needed?

Watching the timelines & the slow reaction by Andrews to full lockdown infuriating as anyone with a clue knew the partial lockdown was a half arsed measure when it was out of control.

Really appreciate the SA leadership. Compare where we recently quarantined much of a school as a preventive measure to 2 positive cases in the community & today they were all released with no spread.

If Andrews is re-elected after this & the branch stacking, most Victorians are idiots!

Mt Gambler has pediatrics specialists.

Also, hospitals using teleconferencing more during the pandemic.

E.g. if need by WCH specialists can video conference to Mt Gambler hospital.

If the kid needs to go to WCH, it won't be a problem.

Bottom line is the family will still get healthcare.

The ACT is completely free of the virus, and we haven't had a single positive in 35+ days.

The QLD Govt created a necessary fiction, calling the ACT a hotspot, in order to ban travellers from Sydney driving to Canberra and boarding planes to QLD.

It's pure fiction. The ACT is the "coldest" jurisdiction in the entire country, as far as Coronavirus is concerned. However, it's a necessary fiction to prevent evil NSW border dodgers from using the ACT as a back door to QLD.

This is actually a better result considering 2 consecutive days under 300 cases & lowest in a month... so finally trending down.

Still a long way to go to get under control, but it appears the lockdown restrictions are now kicking in.

OK Jenny though I do not have a medical background I do have an anilitical and information gathering background,
And I know as FACT that until this year there has never been a concrated effort of this kind in finding a vancine for anything in World History,
So any oprevious data on the issue cannot be used as a guidline or template.
So I woul;d advise to anyone do use all data to push a piont, in regards to a covid 19 vacine,
You do understand the are currently 7 phase 3 trails including several with high standing,
You do understand the implications of a Phase 3 Trail more so when some of these trials are being conducted in muliple countries with differing Gynectics, Climates and Diets, an intresting fact, as that has not happen at this level before.
Also some of the earlyier results from the phase 3 trial have come backwith very positive results, which have givern developers enough information to make a decent rick assesmernt and start manufacting earlier than normal,

And Please stop with the old Australia print media reports as proof, It's known that the Austyralia government will be talking up the process on the side of caution, but planing for a more optimistic start,
And before you ask again where I am getting my info from, I getting it from from Government reports and overseas government report along with reports from several notable medical journals, I am reading these reports and not just the head lines.

Also my tip there are 2 possibly 3, Phase 3 trials that will go into Phase 4 production before the year end. and by Production I mean mass production.
My only concern today re Australia is the roll out procedure, and priorities attached.

Coronaviruses are amongst the many viruses that cause the common cold. The main reason there hasn't been a vaccine for them is that it wasn't really worth it.

There was work on SARS and MERS vaccines, but those diseases was brought under control before anything could come of it. I believe a lot of the current vaccine development is built on this previous work.
