As we all need to replenish perishable food items in the coming week.

Supermarkets & Shopping Centres and fruit shops , butchers will become , even more than now , where corona virus is transferred betweenness people,
I was at supermarket tonight and was shocked at how bare shelves were

This hysteria and panic over nothing will be a BIGGER cause for deaths, because the stress and anxiety it will cause for people will be a detrimental effect on not only the immune system, but also the quality of life for millions - this will cause people who are GENUINELY in danger of something serious from visiting GP's and hospitals because of this hysteria, it will isolate people who are already at risk from things in regards to loneliness and isolation (personal care, schizophrenia, depression), it will make certain consumables harder to find and obtain from those that really need them and any sort of state of emergency erupting from this nonsense is just going to exacerbate this even more.

The very cause of us reacting this way without looking at STATS (and this is not surprising, given the VIRAL meme nature of our world right now), is what is going to cause our problems from here on in. It's fine to be vigilant, but we should not go overboard like this, we should be composed.
No worries Doctor Cake.

This thing is super contagious, and the death rates are now climbing for both young and old (30-50 year olds are now experiencing high death rates in Italy as of the last couple of days).

We've never seen anything like this before, and before this is over, I suspect at least 3% of the world's population will probably die from it - if trends around the world continue. That is not a small amount.

Experts have predicted this will start slowing down around August...that means it could be 6 months before we have a vaccine/drastic reduction in cases and transmission.

Pull your head in.

Where are the stats for those first two points?

The third has been circulated a fair bit. Although I heard vaccine is 12 months away.

Wow I can hardly watch those scenes in the wet market. Makes me angry beyond belief. Those people responsible should be publicly trialled then executed

I agree I would love to see the Chinese Govt to give the death penalty to anyone inside these facilities. Send a strong message.

Media induced hysteria. I'm still quite unconvinced by the severity of this entire thing, yet my wife and I had to do a huge shop today before everything was gone. We certainly weren't boxing on over toilet paper.

Idiotic comment. Feb 24th, Italy had 129 cases...3 weeks later, over 12,000. March 6th, we had 37 cases, now we have around 160. We are following the exact same trend as most countries, where our infection rate/death tally, will peak in May and continue on 'til August. This is the advice of Chief Medical Officers, not some conspiracy theorist on bigfooty. This thing is super contagious, and the death rates are now climbing for both young and old (30-50 year olds are now experiencing high death rates in Italy as of the last couple of days).

This is no joke. W.H.O doesn't declare something a pandemic, just because. This is serious, and your attitude is the same as so many failed leaders in countries that have really missed the boat when it comes to tackling this.

"Experts" were predicting 21,000 people dead in Australia at the beginning of March, and we are now 2 weeks in with just 3 deaths.

3!

Do you understand how stupidly quick that tally would have to climb to even reach 20 let alone 21,000?

It's panic from people like you that is going to cost us and our loved one's our quality of life and toilet paper.

Agreed. This is just one massive overreaction driven by the media. Can't believe people are freaking out like this.

Once this virus is "out there" in the community its uncontrolled infection rate is such that the number of cases should double every week. Starting from a base of 100 cases then 14 weeks later this becomes 1.6 million people who have been infected.

I’m not sure the financial costs will far outweigh the health implications for those that die, or their loved ones.

and what sort of person are you that thinks it’s sad that most people won’t get the virus or only get mild symptoms? You would prefer more people got it, more got severe symptoms and many people died. Love your logic :drunk:
You have completely misunderstood my post. Not good at comprehension are you?
Have a look at how much has been wiped off global sharemarkets. Many self funded retirees rely on their portfolios for income, you know, to put food in their mouths. Many people close to retirement age will have lost significant savings and will have to keep working.
The sad thing is that many businesses will go to the wall, people will lose their jobs, many will probably lose their homes yet they won’t catch the virus. The mass hysteria will ruin their lives.
It’s already started.
It’s a complete overreaction imo.
