Re: Is it right to be following Ben around?

What was really funny was when ACA quotes a friend of Ben Cousins walking past saying "I;m so f*cked up right now!" Honestly, did anyone see the fat mole that said that... they have simply recorded a person walking past there cameras. Good on ACA for showing a good edited story on Ben Cousins. Show the full footage and there would never of been a report. Very low act.

sorry if theres a thread already but i couldnt see one anywhere.. did anyone else see it on the 9 exclusive?

ben cousins on the gold coast, partying with mates and hot chicks. Seen holding his nostril and bending down to a table - video footage and all.

As if you could see him holding nostrils and all. All you could see was slightly blured vision of him bending down at a table. How can you see him holding nostrils when the footage was taken from behind? Next time you neednt quote exaclty what ACA say they are about to show in order to get everyone to switch on!

Who would have thought Ben Cousins would be a toolie?

If he wanted to get away with friends, he could have gone anywhere, but chose to go to the coast during schoolies.

...and I thought the guys from Uni that went to Schoolies were predators.

Cousins is a easy target. 3 days on the gold coast = copy.
Sleazy and cheap footage of the 'journalist' phoning Cousin's father and manager. Much cheaper than trying to ambush them on the street.

As for Cousins himself, I don't think he gives two shits. After being delisted from a police bust where all charges were dropped I'd be out on the town as well.

Re: Is it right to be following Ben around?

Benny is a lost cause. He has wasted his life and I doubt he'll be alive much longer. [/B]

The low life media types would love that. They could then write lots of sad articles about how Ben Cousins was just a misunderstood Aussie larrikin who was led down the wrong path. Paparazzi like Hutchy feed off this kind of stuff.

He is still a listed player.

If he does get delisted this week or next, he iis only suspended for 1 year, so he can nominate for the draft, and be picked up by a club prepared to pay him to sit out the year.

Do you think that will happen? I expect him to be in the wilderness for year before anyone touches him.

Question on Benny

Note that i am not in any way, sticking up for him at all. I despise the fact that he is taking advantage of being a footballer, while thousands of talented kids around the country never get the chance.

But i want to know whether what Ch 9 did last night was legal.

As far as im concerned, this bloke who taped this, has followed Ben to a party, during his own time. Recorded a portion of his night, on both Friday and (i think) Saturday Night. They have then put it on National TV.

Isnt there some rule against that? Something about stalking or something :p

Re: Question on Benny

Probably but maybe the end justifies the means.

So footballers can't have private lives? I don't care about what Ben Cousins did, i don't like the fact he can be followed and taped, then have it shown on national television just so some people can act all high and mighty on a topic they don't know about. How would you like it if you were followed and taped?

Re: Question on Benny

He's just another temporary fascination. The media will flog it till noone cares anymore and the bloke wants the publicity anyway...he has no east coast proifile which will gnaw at his considerable ego and if he wanted to lay low for awhile and rehabilitate he's doing the exact opposite. So its open slather on the dill till we're sick of him.

Short answer, no. If you can see someone from the street and they're in an open area (not inside a house) it's legal.
Stalking is a different and far more serious situation.
In any case, it is more likely than not that the images were captured by a licensed investigator.

Maybe he doesn't have a profile in the Rugby states of the East Coast but in AFL states he has a HUGE profile and that includes Victoria.

Mind you, i was in Sydney a few weeks ago and Cousins was on the front page of every single newspaper. Not bad for a guy with no profile on the East Coast. Even Howard did't get front page in an election campaign.

Yeah HAD no east coast profile would've been more accurate...he's getting some currently.

Still 98% unrecogniseable in Sydney...doubt its much different in Brissy BUT at least more people have heard of him now which was his first challenge.

Rehab/Privacy is obviously the last thing he wants so dont be surprised if he starts hanging around RL dorks like Willie Mason to help cultivate that "badass outlaw" profile he's after.

not sure of the legal status, but i caught a bit of it and thought, yeah, this is heckin'g disgraceful....today tonight did its bit to tear down nine's ACA with a piece tonight on exactly this subject, saying it's time cousins got left alone, he's a private citizen and it was a disgrace to film him having a beer on a balcony

of course, let's not get sucked in that Ch 7 are adopting some sort of moral high ground here.....both shows deserve the utmost crapping on

but the point about what was on nine last night is certainly a good one
i'm not a cousins fan, certainly not an apologist, but enough's enough, and what ACA did last night is surely a new low for tabloid TV

hmmm...actually, it's probly NOT a new low, but just another example of how low such shows will go

Has anyone here ever seen someone snort something without using some kind of straw-like device (a la the infamous rolled up $20 note)? Wouldn't they probably see the note if you saw him bending over to snort this and then coming up holding his nose? Not saying he was not snorting something, there just seems to be a lot of inferences on their part with little evidence. Did they even have footage of the "friend of Ben" that said that she was"****ed" inside the house? Or have they just taped someone saying that and said it was a friend of Ben's? How do they even know it is a friend of Ben's?

Yes lets not end up like the british here people.

Re: Question on Benny

This sort of thing is exactly what celebrities overseas have to put up with..........good example..Nicole Kidman and that photographer....Princess Di etc....Benny better get used to it I'd say..

You guys are just as bad as ACA..Benny was not doing coke..do you guys live under a rock? didnt even look like it in teh slightest..bloke bent down for 5 seconds...STOP PRESS!!

ACA should be ashamed fact is Cuz can spend time with his pals if he wants...

Oh yeah BTW this whole Schoolies beat up teh Versace Hotel is no where near Caval...where schoolies is based...
bunch of flogs

leave him alone, he has done wrong in past but sh!t give him abreak

I agree ,it's time to leave the guy alone. He's not hurting anyone ,only himself and his poor parents. He's copped his punishment and is no longer an AFL player end of story. He might wise up one day and grow out of whatever vices he has ,he might not ,either way it's nobody's business but his own now.

I don't see the problem with benny being at "schoolies" week, everyone knows there are always "toolies" there as well & let's face it, Benny would have to be the biggest "toolie" in Australia. :D
