Look at you tough guy. I bet you'll beat the virus away with your fists won't you. Well good luck to your family mate if that's the attitude you're going to run with. Hope you don't have any eldery or immunity impaired relatives. But that's ok... You'll scare the virus away from them with your toughness.

Oh and PS... I came at you with fact... not opinion. I know which I'd prefer.
This is a place for people to discuss openly and frankly, not to be berated for putting forward their opinions. I returned in kind with some interest. Entirely appropriate.

I am not a tough guy. Your argument is too flawed to be telling anybody they are talking shit and they need to take their head out of the sand.

not saying I am right, could turn out in entirely wrong...evidence at the moment hasn’t swayed me. Think it’s a massive over reaction.

In any case apology accepted, try be more considerate in future. Play on.

Delay now, then commence the season once the all clear is given by those in charge of containment. Would have to be a much shorter season however.
Just reading in HS that a delay to the season is a possibility now.

Except there's zero chance of an all clear being given in the next 6 months. We are still months away from the peak, and then the compounding problem of winter setting in and the virus bring boosted by that. If you think this will all be over in 2 months you're sadly mistaken

I reiterate, COVID-19 is around twice as infectious as the common flu, and, depending on the somewhat rubbery figures, around 10-300 times more deadly. Added to this, unlike the common flu where the at risk can be protected by a vaccine, there is no vaccine available for COVID-19 and and there won't be for sometime. The flu is bad enough and kills far more people that your average punter realises. The indications suggest that this is significantly worse than the common flu.

This is not to say we should all buy reams of toilet paper and run around like chicken little. Unlike influenza, we know little about this virus, there are all sorts of variables and while there are all sorts of predictions and models out there, the truth is, we dont really know how far this will spread. Besides, for young fit people the mortality rate is around .2%, so while you might get a nasty infection, young folk will likely be fine. However, hit your 50s, the mortality rate increases around 5 fold, to above 1%, and it goes screaming up from there.
Your argument more compelling, and well considered. You can see you think for yourself. Respect.

people that regurgitate nonsense news on the other hand, and then run around stomping their feet like they own the place I don’t have time for.

It’s clearly more virulent, in terms of rate of infection...our bodies clearly aren’t conditioned to such a variation. I do believe that the incidence is well under reported, and that the rate of death is not too dissimilar to that of the flu.

people that play sports aren’t generally 80+ therefore I don’t get why sports need to be suspended, just play without fans.

How about listening to the experts.

If footy closed off,
races closed off,
not sure what I’ll do?

Read I guess.

I didn't apologise and you are not right. Scientific facts and raw numbers back that point.

Read the stories that doctors in Italy are having to make decisions over who can live because they've run out of resources. Not sure how that doesn't sway you.

More compelling because he didn't call you out for the idiot you are. That's obviously where I went wrong. Ah well... I put people in their place. A tough guy once said that.

If the comp is suspended, will the players be paid to sit at home on the couch?
Yep.
contract says so.
The AFL is the one That’s likely to take the hits for the clubs.

interesting times

That’s what’s happened to me for the last two weeks. Just because my wife travelled overseas. Working from home is not much good for someone hands-on like myself.
