Plan is better than whatever we have had for the past week or so.
People are self interested at the end of the day, they do not want lockdowns and want to be able to travel. This at least gives some guidance, even with the lack of modelling.

One wonders what the modelling will be based on. Complete herd immunity? Acceptable number of hospitalisations/deaths?
And what if the modelling comes up with 90% ? No chance we get there.
The cynic in me says a number of models will be put forward and the one that gives the government the number it wants will be used.

hes thrown it onto us. essentially everyone needs to get vaccinated to achieve these phases quicker. and by banning az from october the fully vaccinated phases shorten substantially.
I took that as them not having agreed on % amongst the states. There is no one scientific consensus for this virus, so all decisions are still political (just look at how differently each state handles lockdowns).
Here's my guess on what will happen. People have been scared again from these outbreaks so will start vaccinating en-masse. By around start of next year we will start hitting rates of 60-70% of population (this is what other countries have used as thresholds). The population will get sick of restrictions and consensus will demand we open up, the politicians will cave to stay popular and we will get on with life.

The % is basically gonna be aspirational. An 'in an ideal world' figure. If we don't hit it despite all of us having been given the opportunity to get innoculated, we will be opening up anyway. Eventually.

I guess the later he does it, might means he announces the lockdown lifting at the same time?? Can’t come out at 11am and say no more cases, lockdown ends at midnight, then find out at 4pm there’s 10 more cases and has to cancel it all and lock it down again
Also they would be digesting what Schomo has said to tie it into their conference.
Surely they picked 4 days so that this was accounted for? Ie, "we really only need 3 days but we will give ourselves a fourth to be sure. If we are clear by morning of day 4 then all good."
Our previous snap lockdowns were only 3 days and we coped.
I remember for one of the other lockdowns, that they had to have a bunch of committee meetings to sign off on everything. Given there was national cabinet, maybe they have pushed them to later in the day. Tough shit if you're a business trying to re-open for the busiest trade days of the week (the weekend).
I think that the difference with this lockdown (and I stand to be corrected) is that in previous lockdowns there was (amazingly) no spread at all, where there have been a couple of cases this time.

think the fact they have all signed a deed saying lockdowns and state border closures are now last resort means marko has a lot of explaining to do

Adshead on 6PR this morning was calling out the Premier to comment on the information Ch9 had received last night regarding another positive case.
Fair enough too, if we're going to hit the school holidays in lockdown it would be nicer if the Premier didn't leave it until 4pm or later.
