Thank god for CrowHop and Wall-e

Of course now, we're dangling a good size carrot aswell, which hopefully will get Carlton's interest.

If we can all put away the egos and posturing-BS, we can realise that both our clubs can benefit in a big way if we get a good deal over the line.

We want Sauce, you want a KPP, lets make it happen.

EDIT - I don't pay attention too much, does Parrot actually offer anything constructive around here ?

Parrot has her moments of clarity, and is awful fun when Richmond supporters come a trollin'.

I think a fair deal will be struck and Ratten is posturing because he knows that Sam has put them in a weak situation by nominating Adelaide. I don't doubt he intends to do what he says though, but not at the exclusive price of pick 14. I think we will end up fairly compensated

Talia or Mckernan for me. I'm out on my own with this one when it comes to Crow supporters opinions, but trading any of these guys wont hurt us in the immediate future due to us having a good stockpile of KPP's.

I'm sure Carlton would look seriously at this aswell due to their list needs (immediate and future).

Draft picks may need to be thrown in somewhere, but surely a straight player/player swap would at least be close to the mark ?

From their point of view I can't see the point in the Crows giving up a quality younger player they're put development time into (lets forget about Sellar) just to hold onto pick 14. Pick 14 is really the equivalent of about pick 20 this year. The 14 pick deal is actually a pretty generous one, and we've given the Crows first crack. You'll be shooting yourselves in the foot if you stuff up this trade. Jacobs is a quality ready made #1 ruck, something your list will benefit from immediately. Anyway, the trade demands are set now. Just a matter of waiting for the yes or no from the crows. If no, both clubs will move on. Blues will deal with another club, and the Crows will work on securing another ruck that costs less.

  • We'd do it, because we can most afford to offload a KPP.
  • We'd do it, because we know that an offer of a KPP will get Carlton's interest
  • We'd do it because we (badly) need to inject more midfield talent with Pick 14

Anyway, I would have thought that a young KPP would be preferable to pick 14 ?

I realise I''ve been drawn in to a debate with a troll, so I'll leave it at that.

HBF will only start another one with trade week yet to begin.

Why can't we just go through an off season without chasing players like Hugh Hefner chases young women?

Our salary cap space is like Hefner's viagra, once it is gone we will be impotent and unable to compete with more virile clubs

probably right but we want a KPP that we think would add value to our list not someone that may just be a fringe player. The KPP that would add value to our list are supossedly untouchable. So you'll have to give up either an untouchable or pick 14

I've said it before - and I will say it again for good measure:

Who will you trade to us who will play 150 games in a KP?

That's what you want from us in Jacobs. Evidence - a $1m deal.

So who or what is it?

 It's not Sellar.

 It's probably not a second rounder.

:thumbsu: It may be pick 14 (at least it's in our hands then).

:thumbsu: It may be Talia or McKernan.

:thumbsu: It would definitely be "the untouchables".

If you can answer the question - you will go a long way to finding the answer to this deal.
As I have said several times, it will be the Bock compensation pick.

  • You and your fellow Port/Crow supporters keep missing the point. It's irrelevant what you or I want - all that matters is what the Blues officials are insisting on. And that's pick 14 or no trade. We all know that now. Crows need to decide if they can afford that, or whether they should pursue a cheaper, lower quality option. I suspect that'll be the debate going on within your club over the next few days.

    :)

Doesn't matter how many times you say it, it won't happen.

Tell me this, assuming the Jacobs trade to Crows doesn't happen, what other ruck do you think your Club is going to secure with your "compo pick"? I reckon the Pies would want even more than that for Josh Fraser.

:)

To be honest I do not think Jacobs gives enough upsize over Maric to warrant more than the Bock pick. I cannot see us playing them both all year and so it will not surprise or bother me if we just walk away.

It is more important we fill deficiencies in our outside midfielders with pick 14 rather than upgrade our number 1 ruck from average to good.

It will be interesting to see what happens if Carlton sticks with pick 14 or nothing. It could put Jacobs in a tough position personally as to what he chooses to do. I imagine he thought a deal would get done easily, once he nominated Adelaide.

It seems your club has vastly differing opinions to you, already working up a contract ;)

You won't be disappointed in Jacobs.
8 years of feeding your mids should keep you all happy, one would think.
Pick 14 may yet seem very cheap in a couple of years time.

He's been in the system long enough to realise how it works... unless we get compensated properly to the time and effort we have put into him... then we would prefer not getting anything than getting ripped off

I actually think that's a valid point. It's a question of whether you'd benefit more from a high quality ruck or a potentially good midfielder. It's not an easy question to answer, and depends on how your club ranks it's deficiencies, and who it'll realistically be able to land at pick 14 in this draft. If the Crows can find a solid 2nd ruck from somewhere cheaply, and land a good midfielder at pick 14 that might be a better option for them.
