On a side note when are we wearing this top? Are we wearing it against Essendon or waiting until the weekend after ANZAC Day or both?

Oh, I meant this Blackadder

It’s fine, serves its purpose of commemorating the day/supporting the ANZAC appeal, at least it’s not a Wests Tigers situation.

Don’t like the dumb O’Neills different coloured collar thing appearing just like on the Gather Round guernsey, if it was the navy cuffs and collars like on the Indigenous guernsey it’d be better. Sill holding out for one day hopefully when the home guernsey goes navy cuffs and collar instead of gold 🤤

I think the gold cuffs and collars relates to our original 1991 design. I don't mind it. But it could be a small tweek that takes our traditional guernsey to a new level.

We have brought the Crow away / clash guernsey back about 4 times now through our history. I believe it should actually be kept as a traditional jumper now and we use it at least 50% of our away games and definitely in the showdowns.

Why showdowns?
We should wear our home strip at every opportunity

They won’t ever stick to one, no matter how popular. Need cows to milk.

I figure it was an away guernsey. I half forgot we wore our home jumper in away showdowns. never mind.
Yep because port wear something else they found in the closet.

ANZAC guernsey's are inherently embarrassing and trivialising to the date. This Adelaide one is particularly bad IMHO.

If I was to pinpoint the reason and I maybe wrong, it does seem clubs are going out of their way to avoid any image of a weapon on there guernseys. Which for a top likely to be bought and worn by adults through its limited edition status is kind of over thought hysteria. If they had a shadow image of a soldier in dress uniform with a gun at their side that should be ok since kids who watch dawn service, marches and ceremonies all see soldiers in dress uniforms carrying a dress rifle. I don't think its the promoting of weapons the AFL and its clubs fear it is. Nothing will change though. But the bugle just seems wrong.

Wow, thought people would love it! I’ve had a couple of mates message to say how good this new guernsey was, so took a look and was drawn to it immediately. Worst guernsey ever calls are a bit extreme, it certainly wouldn’t have sold out that quickly if that were the case.

Its not the worst, I just think the club missed the mark with the image. We've had plenty of terrible away gurnseys. This one overall is a great design other than the image.

The chevrons mean something .. I like it. And I can hear the trumpet. I miss my grandfathers

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

So are we selling these and keeping profits or given the profits to RSL or veterans? We shouldn’t be making money off Anzac Day merchandise
We're using the Anzac guernsey profits to buy poker machine licenses

They are giving off a signed jumper to each RSL in the state of SA. (118 of them apparently) and it’s up to the RSL to display them or sell them off to help finances. Whether they sell them to the public also don’t counteract the positives imo
My desire to found a new RSL right now.....

Yeah, the identity crises club. At least living in Portugal I don't have to hear Kochie have his yearly rant about how Port are so hard done by with not being allowed to wear their traditional top.
tradition

pffft

That'd be like Gold Coast in 2165 going on about 'why can't we wear our traditional guernsey?'

ignoring the fact that its premise wasn't thought of until the 2040s, hadn't been nailed down until 2100 and they hadn't worn it since 2140.

Just because it was popular doesn't mean it's traditional. That'd be like North Adelaide bringing back the candy stripes as their home strip.

Port's what, 154 years old? The premise of their "traditional" strip has only been used for 79 season, and what they want to run with was only used for 40 years.

Honestly, in 6 years we would have worn our strip more than Port's "traditional" strip.
