Apart from Lennon, we really ballsed up 2013... Only 2 years ago

Mostly because we traded away our 2nd round pick for Hampson, however other than Jake Kolodjashnij there aren't too many standouts after where our 2nd rounder would have been, at least not yet.
Rookie elevations started right after we took Nathan Gordon, so clearly we weren't the only ones who didn't rate this draft

When Conca is injury free he is very good.
We can't forget how well he played when he first got into the team and how good he was in 2013.
Batchelor had an average final yes but he was playing a role he shouldn't have been playing on a bloke too big for him.
He was solid all year and also after he got back into the team last year too.

No head recruiter has a perfect record, not even the best.

No one is saying they have perfect records.
People are claiming FJ has a great record with first rounders i would argue and have, that it is nothing special. Passable yes but great no.
He has had his misses and it could have been better.
No one can argue that after the first round, the place where they earn their money, that his record is nothing short of horrid.
Our success or lack thereof reflects what FJ has done in the nd. 10 years and still we have not won a final, Still we lose pressure games and fold under pressure. Key areas of the list still lacks decent players yet alone very good players. Depth remains poor and there really is a lack of quality spread throughout.
We have not achieved one thing, not a freakin thing under Jacksons ten year tenure.
But it isnt all Jacksons fault, it is a combination of both Recruiting and list management.

What i dont understand is people getting upset because criticism is aimed at those in charge.It is not unwarranted and it is usually backed up with stats and commentary on performance.
Some do think he has done a good job and that is great, but why get angry at those who don't think the same way.
Most of the footy world outside of our club dont rate us. There is a good portion of our supporters like myself and tiger imposter who think we have been poor also. What we cop is no you are all wrong bugger off you have no idea. What makes people think their opinion is more right than anyone elses.

Ultimately the proof is in the pudding of success. We have not had any at all in a ten year reign. I would suggest the criticisms are warranted and wont go away until we actually achieve something.

Agree with most of that but I do think people put up Wells and others without actually saying they have also had their failures, which was the reason for the post.

And what was hawthorns averages before lake and hale retired, if you can find it? We may have beaten them but their quality plus age made a big difference. I do reckon if a good chunk our group is still together in 2-5 years from now we will be really good. Think how well we managed to control the tempo at stages for such a young side. Along that path we will need a new ready to go ruck and a kpd, otherwise we are likely set, just gotta keep drafting well at our first pick in that time.

Yes, current list with retirements and new additions (so far) taken into account
9th oldest list, though either way its right in the middle isn't it

Not sure about at the end of 2015, but at the start of 2015, Hawthorn were
24.3 years per player - 4th oldest in AFL
74 games per player - 3rd most experienced in AFL

So it would suggest that our age profile for next year is right on target
It will skew lower once our new draft picks are added though

If Alex Rance is listed as a 1st round pick, which he should be as an end of 1st round PP, then Shaun Hampson was a 1st round pick too as he was also an end of first round PP

Next year we will need to look at boosting our KPD stocks.
Looking how late a player like Kieran Collins went this year we should be able to pick up a decent backman next year they tend to go later than the big forwards.
Also another inside mid wouldn't hurt. Either good kid in the ND or chase an established player -Wines (in my dreams).
