Not much has been said about relegation.

An interesting battle looms in the weeks ahead.

I think 6 wins will be enough to avoid the drop which means everyone from 5th down is still in the mix.

There is a big clash (a classic 8 pointer) between Bentleigh & Therry.

Would be interested in hearing who everybody thinks is in the gun???

6 wins Wamba!!!

I think that 5 wins will be enough - was actually thinking that 4 wins and a better % may be enough too.

I cant see SMS and Bentleigh actually defeating the Top 3 sides

So picking up 2 wins each in the run home might be about right.

Agree to this week's clash - massive game for Therry and Bentleigh - almost the last chance for the Red Legs I have to say imo

Six wins a definite I would think Drifter.

You always have to allow for the possibility of an upset here or there when the relegation battle hots up IMO!!!

Bentleigh-Therry (h), OW (h), GE (a), Ivan (a), Bany (h), Emmaus (a), SMS (h) 4 home, 3 away.

Therry- Bent (a), Werr (h), OW (a), SMS (h), Emmaus (h) OP (a), GE (a) 3 home, 4 away.

I think that you would want to play the mid to lower sides at home in the run home which makes SMS's & Therry's run home the toughest IMO.

Im bored so lets have a look

Bentleigh have played Werribee & OP twice,
SMS have payed OW & GE twice,
Therry have played Ivanhoe, Banyule twice

So SMS play Werribee & ESL the next 2 weeks - I think they are in trouble

Still think the race for 4th is the one to keep an eye on - OP just sniffing around there as well now

Bentleigh beat Therry by about 5 goals from memory last time away. I wouldnt be suprised if Bentleigh got the chocolates this week, and throw a major spanner into the works of the relegation battle. I think that bentleigh will give themselves a chance in four of those games in the run home if they are at their best.

I think SMS and Therry will be unlucky. Looks like willi will be back next year too.

Bentleigh Vs SMS last game of year could be interesting in scheme of things.

IMO OP's are safe. SMS are gone. Toss of a coin between Therry and Bentleigh, this weeks game is a must win for both.

Well boys i have just had the official phone call and was asked or should i say told to pull my head in and keep off this forum its not doin wbee any favours so out of respect its time to move on in my grammar lessons so from to day on its up to tt to fly the flag . no more from me.

ace54 you are a *******. always have been in juniors.
lost the last 2 under 18 wrfl grand finals. you have about 4 usernames on bigfooty so even though you say you won't write anymore you'll be under another username. altona premiers 07 remember that. because winning a d2 reserves grand final is nothing to be proud about

At every club, the seniors come first. Do the u/19's run the club at any other club? THe club was dying to get the best out of itself. U/19's is still junior footy, A senior premiership/survival is much more important, than one person ego at the club. I dont discount that Fab can coach. but he will always be regarded at werribee as the man who thought he was bigger than the club.

I feel sorry for Timmy Ellis, who was a good player/coach/bloke who had to put up with all the crap he shouldn't have.

Would Fab let his best U/19 players play in the U/19's now that he is coach of the seniors........ i think not. despite at what level they were playing at.

Ace, I stopped playing when i was 16. not bitter about not playing for them at all. in fact i used to go and watch them most weeks, as it was the team mates i grew up with playing. Senior footy comes first. I dont care what anyones argument is, the buck stops there. Things would have been esculated had the seniors been relegated that year.

I think you will find the reason there is no U/19 side at Werribee and two U/18's, is because of the debacle that happened a couple of years ago.

TT. What a crock! For those who want facts and not your speculation... Fab had a situation last year where the OW u/19 side was flying and in fact played off in the grand final, With plenty of players worthy of a D3 senior selection he chose not to pick them. Only 1 of the u/19 players where selected in the senior side last year. It's not a case of "when he was u/19 coach it was different". but more a case of let the kids develope and enjoy their football with their mates before they get put up into the senior side. Yes the senior side is the main focus of any club, however the future development of the club is the most important thing. And if that means letting the kids play u/19's to build confidence and develope then maybe they are better playing in the unders.

Fab has a great knack for knowing who (whether reserves or u/19's) is ready for senior football and who isn't.

This year we have had 6 of last years u/19's playing regularly in our senior side, they feel like they belong at senior level now and their performances over the past month or so have proven that.

Remember, D2, D3 isn't the best standard of football, it's not the be all and end all of the kids progress.

So how about we try something different TT. You report on the Werribee Ammo's. Let the OW report on the OW happenings, let Drifter report on the ESL news and so on. This way we hear facts and not you just guessing to try and vindicate your junior playing days.

I'm sick of this bickering between werr and other clubs, Cant we just discuss the weekends games, and make predictions for the upcoming one's?

Patty o - i fail to see when i reported on OW, i reported on Fab when he was at WERRIBEE you muppet. and asked Akka about things when he has been at OW. Like i said, obviously Fab is well recieved at OW and has a premiership medal to his name. Well done all on OW pat yourself on the back. My comments were about the past, not the present...

and for Drifter.... he can report on D2 sides as much as he likes... he obviously knows more than most!

And if your sick of bickering, dont get involved, and dont read it.... Its an opinion forum. If you want to not see that sort of stuff. Start your own D2 forum - title is "On field Only"and watch people get bored.....

This forum is interesting, Forever Green, Ace, Akka, Drifter, Eddie the Eagle, Sniper, Bocce, WEST, chump and knackers come on and give people something. Im sure that i annoy the hell out of people on here, but you all keep reading, and you all keep responding and you all keep annoying me. But we are all still here. (except for Forever Green who we are eagerly awaiting his red card to be lifted and get back on here for some banter).

On the issue of Under 19's players playing senior football, 16-19 yr olds in Melbourne should consider themselves blessed (for those who like to complete they're underage football) as if they were living in the country, they would be forced to play senior/reserves football from the age of 15. Due to population in towns.

I believe that if a kid is good enough, he is wasting his time & senior experience in the Under 19's. (Look at Tim Watson for Essendon - extreme case I know).
But then there is point of playing with your mates, but I feel Under 19's learn more from older blokes in the 1s.

Drifter,

Congrats on the weekend mate, your boys are class.

You gave us hope through the middle of the game however much like last encounter the cream rose to the top.
It is really important our team plays other teams like your boys to get a glimpse of what it takes to be a good side in D2, not just relying on the cattle that we had to get us through D3. ability is a small part of winning in my opinion.

I didn't get a chance to chat to you about the closest dweller on saturday?! :D

On another note, How did old mate pull up who had the knee brace on after the game? season over by the looks of it?

We did ok - yeah we did get quite a few injuries on Saturday but we carried him up to Hoo Haa lounge on Saturday night and he'll be back in the 1's hopefully for a game or 2 pre-finals!!!!:thumbsu:

Well Westbourne dont have a U/19 side this season so it is a hypothetical question.....

I ask you this and goes for every other side.

If your seniors were borderline relegation.... but you had a great bunch of players in the u/19s that were more than capable of winning you games in the seniors. Where would you be playing them?

The answer remains in the facts.

tt - the answer does remain in the facts!!
you should report them...all of them. tha man....was a member of the u19s who did play in the ones when asked,
other u19s also played in the seniors that year....those didn't want to, didnt. it was a personal choice of the player and only the player!!

No but they should have been doing the best thing for the club....

an u/19 premiership does nothing for the club. All in sundry should be aiming at playing senior footy. IF they are good enough, they should be straight in there. This message was put to the coach from the board. The coach didnt want to pass this message on, because it would have been detrimental to his own side despite what was best for the club.

I will report the facts, why did he get the Ar$e from Werribee?

I am sick of this argument, For the last time. IF ANYONE AT THIER RESPECTIVE CLUBS - EITHER COACH, PLAYER, BOARD MEMBER etc puts a Reserves/u19/Club18 side before the senior side, they should take a good hard look at themselves.

Senior footy is what it is all about. Werribee's D2 Reserve Premiership isnt something you hear people bragging about.

Can we close this case, this is my final argument.

Fab can obviously coach, you guys love him, yes we know. He was loved by a few members at Werribee too. He speaks very well, has a good gameplan. Hopefully in another years time he takes OW to another flag. Good things are happening out on the wind farm. We will never agree on this topic.

Football development was obviously seen different by Fab and Werribee Ammos at the time.

TT couldn't agree with you more mate.

I know when it will come to crunch time down our way, the 19s will be played to help the club from relegation. Having said this, it will be tough, as I know the 19s are on the boarder line of making finals and it will probably come to the last couple of games of the season, to see if they make the final four (which they are in with a massive chance)... at the same time we will need them most in crucial games against other lower placed teams in the seniors.

I'm sure we are in for a few long Thursday nights as selection drama's will take place.

Let's hope we can maybe string a couple of wins in the next few rounds so that we don't have to be faced with such a debacle.

if thats the case im one of the many running around in the yellow and black from then that needs to have a good hard look at themselves.....all i wanted to do was play with my mates and play for them!!!perhaps it was us as players who saw our football development differently.

not sure if fab got the Ar$e considering he rolled over the westgate and took an A-Grade Reserves side to the grand final!!

agree to disagree

I have never heard of so much crap on this thread. You all have a bit of the facts right but don't have ALL the facts. History is history and I'm sure no-one wants to hear what happened in the past.
Let's get on with footy and not days of our lives. If you want to discuss what happened in the past go down to Mint order a pint of milk and some cookies and have it out.
