The Paul Medhurst Award (If I have the ball i'm having a shot)
Could this go to Aqu FF in the 2's. Visser I think.

He was having shots from everywhere when we played them. Trouble is that they usually go straight through the two big ones!

What ya on about harps.... I was playing and didn't even notice... When did this all happen?

Why would Jeremy Bourke ring our president to make sure we wear RED shorts this week? We've been told Aquinas claim we wore WHITE shorts at home last week.

As for your 2's umpire, the numb nuts could have had 30 marks the number of times my boys passed the ball to him. The bloke looked so much like a South player I almost gave him a spray for not manning up!

I'll show you the video tape.

That is one of the funniest things ever written on this forum. I am getting into trouble at work for laughing so loud.

As for the "white shorts" "red shorts" tiff, who cares. It's finals time baby. Aquinas 2's and SMD 2's both wear your home shorts. SMD seniors wear red, Aquinas white. There you are disaster averted

Yep! I'll just file it with all the other BS clubs sqeal about to the VAFA when things don't turn out for them against the districts.

Bemuse Me, definitely the club house leader for the best sledge in D2, please tell me the guy lining up for goal was Kirk Dowesy:thumbsu:

Get a grip Harps, Maybe it wasnt the best umpires uniform to wear but if AFL umpires got away with wearing white when other teams have white for so many years then im sure D2 reserves can handle it!! Maybe stupid by your players to kick it to someone not leading or calling for it??

And I never like to bag umpires but considering you are bringing it up, maybe those in glass houses shouldnt throw stones!! your umpire would have to go down as one of the most trigger friendly umpire ever!!

Im unaware about the white short incident but ill find out tonight but i doubt any Aquinas people would of "dobbed" u guys in......

Finally you say that we squeel when things dont go our way??? Not to sure about that, both teams got thru the game with no injuries, both teams got the double chance, both teams are full of confidence leading into this weeks matches!! The weekend didnt turn out that bad after all!!

Disapointed i didnt get to sit down and have a beer with u after the game, there wasnt a mass amount of south players up in the social rooms after the game?? Maybe they were out on the balcony? (which is a classic set up having that over the ground)

The best sledge i've heard for the year would have to be from Nick Diker. When one of our players was coming off the ground under the blood rule, a lady from Aqu was bagging him so nick turned to her and told her to shut her mouth and get back to the kitchen were she belongs

Classy Yagabomb real classy !

WERRIBEE are weak and must of been preety scared about playing banyule they clearly thew the game WEAK
HOPE THEY GET DONE BY TEN GOALS THIS WEEK

Semi Final Time, and it's gonna be huge!

Second Semi Final - SMD v Aquinas
Despite SMD's win last week, Aquinas will win this one. They obviously had a fair bit of momentum in the second half last week, and will carry this on. This will be tight for 3 quarters, before Aquinas take the points by 5 goals. Can anyone from Aquinas confirm that Box has made the trek down for this game? The wild card here is Cheevers, if Aquinas can stop him, can't see them winning in the middle, where it is going to be all important.

First Semi - Werribee v St Leo's
Huge test for my beloved Animals! Despite all the crap on this board this week, I thought the Leo's boys played a pretty good brand of footy last week, and thoroughly deserved their win. Have beaten Werribee twice now, and would take that build up anyday of the week to the alternative. Couple of big ins from last week for the animals, although I am sure Werribee will have them as well. It's going to be one in the middle, and with the big fella to get his hands on the ball first, I'm going with St Leo's, by a couple of goals.

Drifter, any news from the inner sanctum? Good week of training? I am hungry for info, and can't wait until 2pm Sunday. Good luck to all, and it appears it could well be on between SMD and Aquinas! I for one will have front row seats!

Maybe Banyule shouldnt have got themselves in that situation where they had to relie on another side to win so they made it. Just face it use arnt good enough. Anyways enjoy your september. stat rolling the arm over boys from Banyule it is now cricket season for you blokes. haha

The Sloth's preview of this weekends games !

Werribee vs St.Leos

I believe the extra space found at Elsternwick will favour the boys with extra leg speed from Werribee. They are very quick side especially through the middle and half back. The Lee boys will dangerous up forward and I am not sure that the Animals have anyone who would do good enough stopping job on them. Saying all this if St.Leos win the disputed footy in the stoppages i.e Baranello has a big one they could cause an upset.

Werribee to win by 4 goals.

SMD vs Aquinas

This game should be a cracker. Once again this game will come down to the midfield battle. If SMD can shut down Den Braber and negate his influence in the game they should win. From the other side of things Aquilina's in and under qualities should not be underestimated by Aquinas coaching staff. He does a lot of hard work and has the ability to play good finals footy which I saw first hand last year. For SMD they need to be careful not to allow Tibb to control the back half as he is good player for the bloods. Finals are often won by the side with the least passengers and I think SMD are carrying less into tomorrows game.

SMD to be playing D1 in 2008 and win this game by 17 points.

In the earlier games.

SMD vs St.Johns

Another interesting game. It will be interesting to see how the boys from Doveton adapt to Elsternwick Park. I think Emery will be the major driver in the Jocs push into week two of the finals. He has plenty of experience and does find the right position to win the footy. For SMD Dawe is a player who has should be playing at 2:10 not at 11:20 ! Uses the ball well and also look for the old fox Henderson to use his body well to win the footy near goal. I know the Jocs beat SMD a few weeks back but I can't see history repeating again.

SMD by 5 goals.

Aquinas vs Werribee

This a toss up in some ways. Aquinas is a better team than last years side but Werribee has quality on every line. Visser had a quiet one last week and I would expect to bounce back strongly this week. If Werribee has a weakness in the 2's it is when the ball is moved in quickly to the oppostion scoring zone they are a bit slow to react and/or they run forward of the footy. Which is to be expected when a side finishes the 17 -1 after the H&A series. You have to expect your midfield to win the footy :p ! Old Johnny Marinis will need to be watched as will ex coach Daly. Lynchy will be preparing feverishly for this game and would be confident of having a week off next week. But I don't think it will be !

Werribee by 34 points !

Good luck to all the sides in the finals may the best teams win. :thumbsu:

not a bad summary Sloth, but I'd like to think you got your last tip wrong. the Jocs boys will push SMD reserves all the way, i wouldn't be surprised if they caused something of an upset, although Elsternwick Park is so close to SMD it might as well be a home game, so the dreaded travel bug might not affect them as it has all year.

Michael 'Big Kev' Visser must be loving the attention on this board with a couple of mentions in as many days...i know you're around Viss its time to reveal yourself to your adoring public!

On another note Yagabomb, if thats the best sledge to come out of Werribee all year, you blokes need to get out more! Looking forward to a great contest and more cracking insults tomorrow at the home of amateur footy. Any of the regulars on this board from non-participating clubs planning on making the trip to EP?

I'm in the vicinity tomorrow for work, so may pop in to the spiritual home of the Floggers.

Prediction time

Aquinas V SMD - in a word Aquinas. Both sides deserves strong favouritism for a GF appearance and D1 promotion.

Just think Aquinas will be really up for this one and produce the goods.

Can name players etc but you all know them anyhow.

Aquinas too strong in the middle and a 6 goal win coming up.

Leos V Werribee - Despite Jono Healey picking the Bees by 42 pts, St Leos are travelling alright having won 1 of our past 7 games:)

Weve beaten Werribee twice - both times Ive been told on this thread that Werribee did not show up in the 1st half of Round 9 and tanked last week.

Not buying it - Leos to get the points in a close game.

Good luck to all this weekend - i will be there both days and will say hello Harps before your coaching genius commences.

Cheers

After trying to stir things up a bit this week I'm sure I cop more than just hellos down at HQ this weekend.

Jono $50 on the SMD/Werribee quinella.

If your wearing an SMD jumper this weekend good luck, if your not, hope you don't get near it:eek:

you did seem a little eager to attack all things Aquinas related earlier in the week, but i'm not planning on apologising to whichever SMD player ends up being the target of our abuse tomorrow.
(every team has crowd favourites :D ) it all just adds to the atmosphere!

SMD are soft. They had Aquinas buried and dropped their chins as soon as they were challenged. That was the softest display I have seen this year from I decent side . Guys like Bracchi, Kealy and Ray (who I named in my team of the year) were very poor and will need to step up if SMD are going to survive straigt sets embarrasment. Looking at the best, I'm surprised they named more than Aqualina.

Toomey, Box and Jess were excellent for Aquinas who will smash whoever plays them in two weeks.

Dont get carried away eye candy, Aquinas were very ordinary for 2 and a half qtrrs, and SMD perhaps should have buried them. Aquinas very good in the last qtr, but wouldn't have thought they were over the line yet.

Well done to Werribee yesterday, far, far too good for Leos. Will be a handful this week. One thing though, 25 for Werribee needs a less on in humility and being humble in victory, luck he didnt get his head kicked in yesterday. SMD might do it for him this week.

Well played to Werribee - things went their way yesterday and they deserved to win.

Here here re: No 25 Kibe- Travis Ryan - smart a*se knob - wouldnt mind you and not No 27 getting carried off and it just might happen accidently one day

Very funny stuff, i doubt you are actually an Aquinas player, one thing that they showed is they dont get carried away with a win and were very good sports. They were exceptional in the last qtr on Saturday and we were ordinary. The guys you mentioned were ordinary but they were not alone. If we had of played the way we did in the 2nd qtr for the whole game it would be a different story but we didnt and Aquinas deserved the win.

Cracking game against Werribee this week and we will be hoping to redeem ourselves this week and hopefully get another crack at Aquinas.

Just found out that Visser kicked 0.5 on the weekend. Sorry to put the spell on you mate!

Enjoyable weekend down at HQ the last couple of days, the SMD 1's result excluded. Enjoyed the Werribee vs Aquinas game on Saturday in the 2's, very high standard and I think the tigers may have dodged a bullet as Aquinas definitely had some momentum going into the last quarter but Werribee showed what a quality outfit they are by steadying and then booking a spot in the GF. Any word on Vissers' hammy out of the Ringwood camp, the lad was not happy when he came off, actually looked a bit proppy all day.
Speaking of dodging bullets, my own boys were good enough to turn the tide in the second half yesterday, after weathering a St John's storm with the wind in the first quarter the wind deserted us in the 2nd and St John's were making the play, in particular #34 out of their backline. Must give my boys credit for the second half turn around (again!), probably wont get that chance against Aquinas this week who look hard to beat, not impossible but we'll have to improve on yesterday's level.

Great to shake hands with all the D2 Big Footy identities circulating in the crowd over the week end, good to see we can poke a bit of fun at each other on the forum and then have a decent conversation at the footy:thumbsu: Some how I don't think Drifter will get too close to the SMD huddle again, hope your recording sounds ok!

Jono! $50 more in your sky rocket, Season = Harper $864.95 Jono = $345.00
