snakes on fire today and will head into next weekend on a 6 game win streak.kew v rc. promotion on the line. as big as a gf birth! cant wait.

Got there 5 min into first qtr & left half time, such a boring game, how bad and embarrassing were SM or how good were RC?? Very poor representation by the SM club.
Expensive day, $14 to get in, $10.50 drive thru Macca's, $70 for a slab of Jimmy's as the Pies lost.

I hear Point Cook is interested and has been for a little while- as i may have mentioned a few weeks ago i wouldnt be surprised with 2 12 team divisions in D3 and D4 next year, unless Ivanhoe merges with Old Ivanhoe which i doubt would happen

South and Lilydale would love a road trip to point cook.

At any stage will the VAFA put a restriction on how far teams are expected to go to play each other? SM to point cook (unless they take the ferry) would be well over two hours.

If teams are not prepared to travel then the ammos isn't for you.

Longest road trip - Peninsula to rupertswood (sunbury)

Saw La Trobe first hand on Saturday and they were fantastic. Will be hard to beat especially at Sandringham. Their ruckman is a gun, interesting to see he has played a lot of games in the Under 19's.

For those undeducated people (like yourself bigwaz), if you called Elesternwick Park the centre of VAFA, Point Cook is 30 minutes & Lilydale & Mornington 50/60 minutes. Are Lilydale & Sth Mornington the only teams in D4. I know which trip I would prefer to travel !!

comedy gold.

We'll have to call that 15 all bigwaz. But I think the serve is still with me. Cheers

Of course Pt Cook is closer than Mornington. If those teams are happy to travel over an hour to every second or third match then that's fine. As oldtimer said, we'll all just have to put up with it.

On paper it shows that roadtrips aint the best for the club, as our two trips to that part of the city have resulted in massive losses. So we will just have to see. Hopefully another good pre season and some more numbers will hope this young club of ours grow.

You guys don't need more numbers, you just have to get everyone back. It's the youngest side we've played this year by a mile.

The Chief Executive of the Victorian Amateur Football Association, Michael Sholly, today announced that Point Cook Football Club will join the VAFA competition in season 2010.

Point Cook, which fields fourteen junior teams in the Western Region Football League, will become the VAFA’s 74th member club. The Bulldogs’ home is adjacent to Sanctuary Lakes Golf Course.

Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard is Point Cook’s Number One Ticket holder.
“We are delighted that Point Cook will join the VAFA. While its juniors will remain in the WRFL, its inaugural senior team/s will join the Amateurs from next season,” Mr Sholly said.

“A decision will be made over the coming months on whether Point Cook will join our Association in D4 with two teams or whether it will spend its first year in our Club XVIII competition. That choice will depend on the quality and quantity of the club’s first senior squad.

“Our negotiations with Point Cook have been ongoing for over twelve months and the VAFA is very impressed with the club’s resourcefulness and organisation. We are confident they have sufficient understanding and acceptance of the culture of the VAFA and that they will be successful in our competition.

“Point Cook’s inclusion in the Amateurs gives us another foothold in Melbourne’s growing west and we believe the local community will rally behind its senior team as it has their junior teams.

“We are proud that our competition is not confined to a particular geographic region and that we can offer a quality game of footy to young men all across Melbourne’s metropolitan area and beyond,” Mr Sholly said.

Good luck to RC fantastic effort by a club who have been slowly building over the years - with the winner being assured of promotion Waz you're right, just like a GF - good administration and committed players and supporters.:thumbsu:

Kew were a club most thought would be there abouts - are they still struggling with injuries? I see Horne played last week. Brunswick ground, who will it suit more and if the weather is ugly will this provide an advantage for either side?

i thought you coached the reserves at kew manny? anyway, it is a big ground, had a look the other day. plenty of room for everybody. i've heard a lot about kew playing better on smaller grounds, so i hope that's the case! rc dont mind the extra space.

SENIORS
Kew vs Richmond - RC by 2 goals.
Albert Park vs La Trobe Uni - LTU by 3 goals

RESERVES
Kew vs Albert Park - Kew by 6 goals
La Trobe Uni vs North Brunswick - NB by 1 goal

Kew v RC - No comment

Albert Park v Latrobe - On this massive, latrobe style ground, its hard to pick against the more running side. AP are a quality outfit, but I think Latrobe will be sharper for not having the week off. If that makes sense. Latrobe by 3 goals.

Reserves:

Kew v AP - AP are unpredictable in the reserves, though their second half on Sunday was very good. Kew are the more stable side. Kew by 1 goal.

Latrobe v NB - Latrobe's reserves are (at least were) the best D4 reserves side I've seen. They should win comfortably if they get their young players in from the u19s. LT by 5 goals.

Waz, LTU rezzies do have 3 big inclusions this week! ... another massive one to come the week after... everythings looking good for the uni boys!! NB will bring it though thats for sure... Great game it will be!

Nth Brunswick having 76 senior games between the reserve side will them in good form against Latrobe.

Kews reserves only had a total of 25 games senior experience this year and struggled against Nth Brunswick.

Looks like NB had an even spread of players this year and the senior coach gave a lot of guys a go in the 1's which is a good move.
