Do the VAFA offer holiday packages for away games to Point Cook.

Oh and will we need our passports being so far from home????;)

Passports not required, BUT, you will need change for the tolls on the bridge !!!!

Point Cook 25 mins from CBD, Mornington 60 mins, I wonder which trip most clubs would prefer??

Pretty sure most out the eastern suburbs way (BHN, Eley Park, Manningham, Mt Lilydale) would all prefer to go to Mornington. It may be further, but it's far more relaible in judging the time it takes to drive there. The drive through the city & over the bridge can take anywhere from 40 minutes to easily an hour & a half depending on traffic / roadworks etc.

I've got a sister in PC & I go there a couple of times a year & I hate the drive.

This weekend could either way with all games.

Question is do Kew or Richmond really want to go to D3 and get pumped every game and then come back down to D4 in 2011 anyway.

I know everyone thinks promotion is always good but has it ever done more harm than good to a club? Please comment.

If your club intends to grow, and not simply maintain the status quo, then promotion is the ultimate goal (via a GF win preferrably).

Do you think Kew, with its junior program and under 19's wants to stay in D4?

I would never think promotion would ever be a bad thing. On the same lines as big waz, promotion is what you want to achieve (and a flag) and without promotion how can you keep growing??

I remember Richmond being flogging boys in D4 only a few years ago and now they're a solid team in D4 which has had growth and probably deserves to go the next step.

i don't think there is a huge gap in between grades in Ammo footy, I think recruiting a few extra good footballers each time you're promoted would bring you up to speed.

I don't think either team would get flogged week in week out in D3. They may get a dose against the top teams but against the middle and the lower they would be more than competive if they kept the same players.

Then you look at clubs like Beaumaris. They've been a yo-yo in B and C for nearly a decade. Even though I hate them, it would be frustrating to be in that postion (unable to be stable in B grade) I wouldn't say that it was doing more harm than good. I think it would come down to finding ways to improve, being more competive and learning from mistakes.

thats my 2 cents

Kew Vs Richmond - Kew by 3 goals
Albert Park V La Trobe - Albert Park by 4 goals

RESERVES.
La Trobe v North Brunswick - Latrobe by 8 Goals
Kew V Albert Park - Albert Park by 5 goals.

Kew Vs Richmond - Rich by 3 goals (Kew in the 1's seem to be a few goals worst off playing away from home) Yes I know they did beat Rich at Rich during the season.
Albert Park V La Trobe - Albert Park by 4 goals (If as predicted its rainy and windy AP to win, Latrobe appears to play dry weather football no matter the conditions which is not always the way to go on a wind day)

RESERVES.
La Trobe v North Brunswick - NB by 2 Goals (I think La trobe have the best 2's team and will beat anyone on a dry sunny day, but on a wet windy day it is going to be a scrap, pretty football will not be welcomed and the NB boys may get up in a tight one.
Kew V Albert Park - Albert Park by 3 goals.Kew 2's like there 1's are not as good away as they are at home, AP have been playing elimination finals for the last 4 weeks and are probably harden by the experience.

Interesting point Gut Runner. If Kew were to go up then they would want to be trying to keep its current list but also get back to the club players like Ortlipp, Collins, Scott and Thorp ( injured in round 1) These 4 were all quality players for Kew last year and would make a massive difference to the make up of the side. Ortlipp and Thorp made the d4 team of the year in 08 and Collins is a class act.

I know that Kew are looking at getting under 18's in vafa off the ground however there is a lot of work to be done for that to happen.

Recruit well and both teams should adapt well to D3.

Didn't Wyley miss much of the season? He was a top 5 in the league best and fairest, in front of Horne, if I'm not mistaken. He's back now I believe.

SENIORS
Kew vs Richmond - Kew probably the better of the two teams at thier best but If the Snakes play like they did last week they will get up, if got a good feeling about Richmond this week. RC by 2 goals.

Albert Park vs La Trobe Uni - Grand Final Preview. Not sure on this game but i just think the confidence from Latrobes good win last week will get them over the line here, Albert will still make the granny it might just take another week. LTU by 3 goals

RESERVES
Kew vs Albert Park - Kew by 2 goals
La Trobe Uni vs North Brunswick - La Trobe by 6 goals

As for the promotion arguement, i think it should be every clubs aim to get promoted, i know its our goal at South to work our way up the grades to play the best football our club can, maybe next year hey???

Good way to JINX Richmond Bobby, I'm pretty sure you said you had a feeling about South last week and look at how that turned out.

What about some more TOTY nominations- we have only had one entire team attempted ! Who is coach of the year(considering it has to be named before the Grand Finals) Who should be captain?

Hey mate, are you told by the VAFA to put together a TOTY, or is it just something scribes do off their own bat?

If the latter, then why leave it till the week before the GF when no one is reading the AF except the two teams standing?

I 've heard a lot of talk about Atilla Yaman winning the D4 B & F.

He is clearly one of the best players in D4... but will a team with an 8-10 record produce the winner?

In 2006 David Payne (Eley Park) won the league medal and they went 6-12 ... so yes a 8-10 team could produce a winner.

Can the VAFA change its mind on promoting 3 teams to D3 next year?

I still believe keeping Monash Griffins in D3 would be a better outcome than promoting the 3rd placed team to D3. They have won 6 games and are not deserving of dropping down grades. A lot of D4 sides are saying they need to even up the grade by having a 12 side D3 is the answer but if Monash come down next year they will be flag favourites and probably not drop a game. Where is the eveness in that.

The third placed team is really only getting promoted because of a VAFA shake up not because they are deserving of a promotion. Also if in the preliminary final Kew or Rich get smacked by over 70 points by Latrobe or Albert Park (the 2 teams deserving promotion) surely the VAFA will change its mind.

from North Brunswick -

Adam Jeffrey would have to be one of the on-ballers.
Other chances for TOTY would be Robbie Santacroce who stars every week on the wing - and Ben Williams who is a goal kicking half-forward/wing who has even played in the ruck sometimes and had another great year with bags of 3, 4 and 5 goals throughout the year.

If the umpires get it right - absolutely.

In what I saw - he didn't just kick goals, but he was good enough to bring other players in to the game as well.

Outstanding in this grade.

I dont think Monash would beat Albert Park or Latrobe, so what is the difference? Adn keep in mind that Swinburne won 5 or 6 games in D3 last year.

Besides, if the Ivanhoe/Old Ivanhoe merger goes ahead, then monash would probably get a reprieve anyway. Point Cook would make up the tenth spot in D4 next year, and Assumption College could even make D4 an 11 team division.
