When we traded for Treloar he said same thing during the Season

Is a Professional Sport so it there Jobs and not Passion like back in the Day

Hope you weren't one of the Collingwood fans booing JHF then, Bucko.

Who cares whether Ken’s filthy. He’s fostered the love-in environment where players won’t achieve the ultimate success. We are only going to lose more players once they eventually realise the grass is greener, financially and success-wise, elsewhere
Conversely, maybe he could learn something about keeping players on the edge instead of showing them how to use the greyhound annihilator and use the Sportsbet app.

The other thing about Dan Houston was his durability as he missed very few games due to injury in fact he played over 20 games in six of the eight seasons he was with us. Dan was also consistent as he averaged over 20 disposals a game across 168 games for us, He was skilled, durable and consistent with it. Half back flanker or not you do not easily cover for a player of that stature.

As for being better coached I suspect we may see an even greater player under a new Coach and a new game plan. The thing that hurts as much as losing Dan is that he will make Collingwood even stronger.

I rate Houston's loss as the most significant departure from our club since Shaun Burgoyne left us for Hawthorn. I hope that Dan Houston's transfer does not translate into Premierships as was the case with Shaun at Hawthorn.
This and whichever Daicos plays off HB will now be an unregistered dog getting cheapies for DAYS.

We lose Nick Stevens to a Collingwood/Carlton
We gain Josh Mahoney/Joe Richards from Collingwood
We win the premiership the very next year

Think that is a Total Different Story to Houston

He left after 1 Season at North where Houson gave you Great Service

JHF would've been drafted by literally every club.

Houston was drafted as a late rookie selection and very likely would never have had an AFL career if not for Port.

His debt to Port is much larger than JHF's debt to North.

JHF doesn't owe North anything. At the time of the trade in 2022, his manager was telling people involved in the deal that he had never seen a young player be mistreated to the point JHF was by North in his entire managerial career.

And FWIW, JHF's manager is also Lukosius' manager, so the connection to get that deal done was planted quite some time ago.

I’m not sure if I’m misinterpreting this comment but after listening through Dans presser (and losing so respect for him in the process) it’s clear the club knew mid year he was wanting to head home but had to keep it on the down low.

Are you suggesting the origins of Jack coming home was there for quite a while, and if so would Dimma have known - because this puts a whole new perspective on him being moved around and left out at times - given Gold Coast weren’t looking like making finals.

Port knew months ago that Dan wanted to leave. I was quite amazed that there were people on here who legitimately thought he was quite happy to stay if a deal couldn't be reached. He has been hellbent on getting out for months.

Re: Lukosius, can probably say a bit more now that he's here haha. Port were into him early this year, and Lukosius' management flagged interest in coming home very early in the year when Dimma played him in the backline. He only wants to play as a forward. When the interest initially flagged it was very hush, hush, because there are plenty of players who will have their management alert teams of their interest in moving to a particular club and it simply never happens (cough, cough, Kozzie Pickett), and there was a time during the season where that interest was more or less shelved and was a non-starter. But then late in the year things happened at the Gold Coast (dropped and played in the backline) which made him revisit things.

Port had believed for a long time that if Lukosius ever decided to come home that it would be Port rather than Adelaide who were in the box seat for his services. It's why I was quite amused all year seeing the likes of Stephen Rowe and plenty of other Crow nuffies talk up Adelaide as being locks for Lukosius.

Being at Port I do believe that Lukosius will grow, being around JHF, Butters and Rozee, I think will spur him on to be the best he can be.

Hopefully Lord sticks around and with MG and Lukosius up forward, the young group can develop together. Interesting to see what happens with Todd.
