Nah last hour of the period Carlton will give us what we want
It aint happening mate, you will be keeping houston or sending him to north. We are going to try and secure pick 12-15 from someone for our future 1st + change and from there were pretty happy to head to the draft grab two kids inside 15 and the campo twins and call it a day.

We will offer you that pick but nothing more and you will reject it and we all move on, start selling him on north

Ahh yes and then you have an angry player manager and an example to the comp that you can’t get deals done. The Carlton way.

despite what you Carlton supporters think and say, you are going after Houston, and will pay. Thanks

Let's be honest if Houston ends up at North for a FF, the worst case for Port would be pick 6 next year for a 27 year old that wants out, that's a great deal for Port all things considered
Future firsts aren’t worth that much to clubs when the player is contracted. They could keep his elite ability for another year and then trade him for that same pick.

Norths would have to be bloody tempting. We could triple our wins and it would still be pick 3/4.

Gets them bloody close to sharpe

2024 R2 from us will be on the table... Should be about 19-22 then you can add academy and other nga rorts to that, should value a 28 year old (at that stage) fairly.

Ahh no, if we don't want to pay what Port want and decide to go the draft instead, then you likely get something decent from North. Don't see what the issue is. We'd like him but he isn't a massive priority if the cost is too high by all reports. That's just how these things go.

Q&A with the NM football dept was published today.

Viney and Rawlings giving off the strong indication pick 2 will be spent on the draft this year. (They were a bit ambiguous on whether it'll be split, so not sure there)

But made it very clear F1 is available for either more draft picks this year, or "the right experienced player".

Carlton will offer more than their initial offer. You refused to give up pick 8 on Saad until you did. Carlton love shiny new toys to cover up their drafting inadequacies.

If we head hunted him sure but in this case we're all afterthoughts for when Melbourne dropped off as an option.

If as expected we said we would be happy to have him but wouldn't compromise our strategy to make it happen then we have tried but a deal couldn't be done and no one goes home upset save for Dan's partner who wants to get home.

Do you mean your 2025 F2? Port fans have spent the thread telling us how our F1 is worthless, there’s no way your F2 gets anything done alone

FWIW I think he will end up at North or stay. It’s pretty clear Carlton don’t want to part with 11, it’s pretty clear Port want that and then some. The media narrative that Houston is “open to North Melbourne” is just the start

Been rated everywhere from top 5 to top 50 best players consistently for the last 3 years according to everyone from champion data to the back of Bourke. But sure, a couple a dimmo’s and a serve of chips will do. Don’t worry, I got me vinegar…

Next years draft meant to be shallow and lacking quality after pick 10 (apart from F/S and Axademy)
It will be extremely difficult to trade out Carltons F1 for a pick this year better than #21 imo
Carlton will finish higher in 25

This bloke has been rated consistently in the top 5 to 50 players in the comp for at least 3-4 years. That’s everyone from champion data thru to your maths professor with an itchy excel finger. I’d rather Port hold onto him since he has 3 years left to run out. Yet port does reward and accomodate their players to the utmost and have full respect for personal lives, roles and responsibilities. The fact that Port are even considering a trade for this game-changing quarterback is a testament to his character and respect within the club.

So in a world where that dweeb Cal Twomey believes 27 Year old Daniel Rioli, who outside team success only personal accolade is the 2017 Goal of the Year, is worth Gold Coast's pick 6, what's a back to back All Australian 27 year old with 3 years left on his contract worth? Logic says significantly more.

Saad 86 games and AA vs Zac Reid 9 games and you say Essendon won that trade with a leg in the air ? We also got Jack Caroll as part of the trade who by himself has achieved more than Reid.
Essendon screwing up draft picks not withstanding we traded away youth for an established player to win a flag that player is now on the decline without us winning one

I mean it’s a better starting point than what some of the Carlton supporters have been saying. Not quite enough though. More will have to be added.
Pick 9 isn't enough??
