More to the point, we have a Houston and an Austin - we now need a Dallas and a San Antonio to round it off.

GOLD!

But seriously, trade with Hawthorn for Dallas Willsmore and draft Mitch Antonio from WA.

Need to also draft a Victorian and nickname him Victoria.

Hmmm too positive for them perhaps. I was hoping the article on the Ports website would bring the cheese.

I cant wait for us to throw him up forward throughout the season to mix things up, a bit like when P Stewart did - he is an elite kick for goal and with the added confidence that he will have attacking the marking contest after being used as an intercept defender, he could be a ready made replacement for the Gus role.

You want him us to model him on Paul Stewart? Carn

Further to my previous post, does anyone know any players who are nicknamed El Paso or Silsbee to play alongside Houston?

well, Stringer has to pay Alamo-ny... I would be happy to take him if for no other reason than to keep this Texas theme going.

***I know it is actually Alimony...

If a bloke we took at pick 45 in the rookie draft ends up having the same career as Paul Stewart I'd be pretty happy with that.

Houston has been good and I had no idea he was the talent I believe he is now but games are won at stoppages by strong midfielders.

SPP was not a high draft pick. SPP would go top 5 in the draft if people knew then what they know now. That makes him a revaluation to most of those who went over him at least.

You cant beat determination, spirit and an attitude that I will not be defeated. Qualities that underpin a successful team.

A mea culpa from me to NASA Houston. I saw him play two games in the SANFL last year and he was a timid HF flanker and almost non existent out on the field, then got a couple of longish injuries and I said we should cut him and load up on other players in the rookie draft, based on the assumption we would have a primary list of 40 not 38. Also he took the last possible spot we could have used on an break in case emergency ruckman if Ryder got a long suspension and I couldn't see the value of taking anothr 6 foot flanker who didn't meet a need.

He has proved he has something I didn't see and its an outstanding effort to go from a junior HF to an AFL backman. My Norwood mate who knows Basset well, told me that Basset has a high opinion of him and has backed him in to do a job in the back line. Apparently he gets very nervous before a game but you can't tell from the way he has played so far this pre season.

Dear Sir or Madam,

We write in reference to your recent reference to one of your players, Dan Houston, as “Tex”.

It is our contention that the nicknaming of this player and his recent promotion to the senior list breaches Australian Consumer Law, specifically Competition and Consumer Act 2010, (Cth) Schedule 2 section 29 as it makes a false representation that the player has the sponsorship, approval or affiliation of Mr Walker. The act prohibits businesses from making such false representations in connection with both the supply and promotion of goods and services.

We believe that people will be under the impression that Tex Walker has supported, endorsed or is affiliated with your player.

We further believe that this activity also constitutes that tort “passing off” as the use of Mr Walkers name for the player and in the promotion of the player creates a false belief in the minds of consumers that there is a business connection between Mr Walker and the player and that he has approved the player's promotion.

Whilst, flattered that you have an obvious passion for both the Adelaide Crows and our client, we respectfully ask that you undertake to rename the player by the end of March and cease promoting him immediately as it puts Mr Walker in a state of confusion.

Please give these undertakings by signing below on each letter and returning to my office. We will accept delivery via a scanned copy to the email address sharper@elitesports.com.au and return of the originals to Level 4, 543-549 Bridge Road, Richmond, VIC 3121.

Yours sincerely

This is BS right?
Taylor Walker took the name "Tex" from that 90's TV show, Walker,Texas Ranger starring Chuck Norris,he has no more claim on that name than I do!

Well, I like him, but I don't see the point of this upgrade if he's gonna be forced out of the side after a week. Lots of senior players to come back and not many others Ken is willing to drop. We'll see what happens.

Remember Jarrad Irons? Starred in a bunch of pre season games, got promoted off the rookie list, played the first three games, got dropped and was never heard of again.

With that being said, may Dan Houston's Port Adelaide career span a little bit longer than a month :thumbsu:
