I think he just tries to not let anything get him down and enjoys his life as it is
Absolutely this. At some point he has decided he’s just going to enjoy life. Good on him.

UnitedWarrior93 Would be great to put that vid on assoc board but we know the snowflakes will tear him to shreds over having a personality.

Yeah I know, his video made waves on Facebook and the comments are hilarious, calling him a flog gets the most likes :D

Players are shot down for being robots and not having a personality, yet when one does like Paddy he gets so much hate for it, can’t win.

You're not a footballer forever.
I think you’re overestimating how far that sort of money can go without proper investment, and considering it’s only a few short years they are on that sort of money it’s not as big as a fund as you’ll think.

Average investment returns are around 2-4%...considering Dnager would at best have earned say around 5-6 million over his career so far that’s not a massive fund to live on.

Pay the house off, and have some investments and he’ll probbly have a good return of around probbly $80k after tax if he’s lucky.

However, if he gets a media job after he’s retired then that all changes but who can predict how long that type of career will last.

Jealousy over footballers salaries is pretty laughable when you consider that while they are well off, they won’t be living like ballers after retirement.

No point having a tonne of cash if you and your family are not happy with the surroundings
Very true a few years I was working in Darwin and was earning twice the money I was on back here in Victoria, I only lasted a year as I ended up missing my friends and family .

I now have got a job in the country that is only around $20k less that that job and I am now building a massive 32 sq house that would cost far less than building in Darwin or Melbourne.

Life should be more than just money, I learnt that by living up in Darwin when I took far too much for granted. I suspect it’s the same with professional athletics or anyone really , if you can make near the ideal amount of money while living closer to home of course you’ll take that.

Sorry, are you suggesting that footballers might actually have to fend for themselves after retirement, and work for a living like everyone else? For shame.

My point was that is usually the reality of it, so those that envy their money and lifestyle should understand that after retirement it all stops.

Hence the jealousy isn’t warranted imo.

I’ve often thought about going interstate for work but just couldn’t do it

He can make as much as he wants. If anything I think the players should get a bigger cut of the revenue that comes in. But they get all sorts of assistance, advice, and opportunities with investing money that most people don't. Plus they're earning far more as well. If players don't know how to handle that following retirement I can't say I'm filled with sympathy for them.

I agree.

You often see those in the NBA and NFL mishandle their millions in salaries some have lost up to hundred of millions due to not having the right financial advice/education or people around them.

I’m sure the managers and the club would be offering financial education to all drafteees, if they are not implementing that is a big worry.
