Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

Talks have stalled?

What, in trade day 1?

It's a very long week.

do remember a few days back some people in forums saying that the deal would be completed at 10am or something ridiculous

Yeah a meteor could hit the Earth as well which is worth taking into the equation :thumbsu:

And Collingwood could win a prremiership without a decent ruck :)

If this looks likely give me a call.
Love to have a ride in one of them new fangled shuttles to blow it up.:thumbsu:

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

Firstly living in the past a little, think more so in terms of current trade value and your forgetting people such as Rocca and Licuria(sp?)

Don't think we'd want Stanley.

New Coach Longmire coming in, have a feeling that playing style will be overhauled

add Mark Orchard and Robbie Ahmat to that list:p

I'm coming, we'll drill a big hole in it and drop a nuke in it...... and that Russian bloke Boris Optivik could be the hero:D

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

So the dogs want Hall... all sydney are asking is a third rounder for him...they werent happy with the third round pick the swans wanted... So i was thinking we could offer.

PICK 14 and our third round pick and a player.. maybe N.brown

For HALL AND JOLLY!

Hall wants to go to the Bulldogs, no point grabbing him if he doesn't want to play for us. Anyway people are talking about Fev as a liability off the field, I reckon Hall is a much bigger liability on it. The bloke retired because he can't stop punching people, that tells you a bit about his mental state.

Don't want hall, and i would prefer Brown anyway...

Are you nuts?

A first round pick + a 10 yr KPP in Nathan Brown (who also happens to be a top 10 draft selection) + a 3rd round draft pick for a good ruckman who is 28 and a nutcase FF who is 34?

Sydney would take this in a heartbeat.

Nathan Brown is not for sale under any circumstances.

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

weak draft this year mate haha! I personally don't want to get rid of N.Brown but you would have to trade a player to get a deal like that done..

Yeh, we've heard it all before about weak drafts but recruiting managers always find gems.

We have one of the best in the business too. Back him in.

I have no problem trading picks for players (if that's the way the club chooses to go) but trading away players like Nathan Brown is non-negotiable. Just ask the Hawks who are refusing to part with Lewis/Birchall/Schoenmakers.

Just like them, Browny and many others alike, are essential to our present as they are to our future.

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

Yeah I know, Wood has him beat in all statistics except hit outs, and you would imagine he will get better in that over the years, I say we go for Mumford and have a combo for the next 10 years.

Mumford would be a good option worth exploring.

Would come reasonably cheap too.

Seems the club is desperate to add a "big-bodied" type of ruckman to freshen up the mix in our ruck stocks with Josh the follower type and Wood stuck somewhere in between still finding his feet.

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

I agree with the future BUT i think we will be closer to a premiership next year than any other with a key forward and decent ruckman!

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

I'm not sure Geelong would agree. I imagine it would take something like 2nd + 3rd at least.

I don't know about 2nd + 3rd.

Very rich price, particularly if the Cats need salary cap relief.

I'd be reluctant to offer a 2nd round pick but that's what may be required to get the deal done.

I'd start at 3rd round.

When you need salary cap relief, you tend to offload experienced fringe players like David Johnson or Matthew Stokes. Not your future no.1 ruck. And certainly not for a 3rd rounder.

West might be more available, but I don't rate him.

David Johnson is worth nothing on the market. He is as good as gone regardless.

Stokes has confirmed he is staying.

You would think one of Mumford/Blake will be leaving the Cattery this season.

However, I would have no interest in Blake whatsoever. Not the type we need.

I've heard Geelong were not exactly happy with Mark Blake's post GF comments about Steven King , if they will trade anyone it'll be him.

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

Channel 10 News reporting that it appears as though pick #14 will be enough to get Jolly to Collingwood in spite of Roos' statements to the contrary. :thumbsu:

Sigh then on SEN rampant sydney fans lynch Ireland today....

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

I wouldn't count my chickens, Channel 10 is often wrong on this sort of stuff. I think we'll still need to give more, but it's less likely that we'll give up someone like Dawes, who I consider to be very important to our future. He's one that I could have seen going, in the worst case scenario.
