Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Any truth in the rumour that former Cuprona coach Darryl Browne is returning to the N.W.F.A.? Also what names have been floting around for the Yeoman, Cuprona, Queenstown, Natone jobs. Is Matthew Wooldridge also playing at Yolla in 2010?
Woody definately a chance now that Wildman has been appointed but may start late as he always does along with Archer as well at the Demons-Yolla will be well up yhere again next year, any truth in the worf that Duffy wants to go back to Penguin but will Clubs and-or coaches wait till a revamped structure is tabled ?

The old yolla dollars must worth a bit on the stock exchange then to be flying Woody in every weekend from Peru and Ecuador. He leaves this week for a holiday for 12 months so i reckon you give that rumour the flick.

Good for Brown. Good luck to him. ANy news at Cuprona why he left? Whos taking over?

Yea good luck to him,was good for cuprona but i think his day is past the use by date there, depending on who you talk to when discussing brownie,to some hes been fantastic in trying to help the club go forward at the same time as being a handy player for em,whilst to others hes regarded as a hack who was barely treading water-personally i regard him as a guy who was capleable but hardly a top drawer player and this is where the dogs need to be looking for a coach, if what ive heard is right, then brownie told the heirachy at heybridge that he was leaving at seasons start so u would like to think that the club has been setting the wheels in motion ever since.
All ive heard is that chalky grey wld be coaching them in 2010, nothing ive heard since would suggest that this isnt true but then again if it was, surely they would have chalky signed by now considering somersets and cupronas season ended soem time ago.
I have been around the darwin for a long time and personally i believe that the dogs should be sounding out the leven league before the club dissapears completely, they are certainly at the cross roads, move ahead or drop back :thumbsu:

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Its very hard for any coaches in the Darwin to do any deals with players at the moment with people not knowing whats going on. Jason Fellows to Yolla as an assistant to Wildman?? Ridgley meeting next week with Arch??
If Chalky coaches anywhere i think he would be worth every cent spent.
Heard a rumour that Kaine "Dougy" Frankombes eyebrows had a run in with a razor on their footy trip on the weekend ha ha

I heard from others that they thought Browny was an ok coach. Any players comment on this?

I dont think hes gunna get a call from the state team but yea ive been around a long time and he seems to know his stuff, coaching is a funny thing, chippa was under the pump going into this year after not making the finals the previous two years, and after leading the mighty maggies to the grannie, now penguin are trying to entice him up a level.

Now i believe little man chipper to be a great coach but until he had the players to work with, he could only do the best he could with what he had, similar to chalky at the roos a few years ago now........:thumbsu:

Any way just on that, if you happen to read this chippa-please stay and finish where we left it at the end of 09. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

No comparison chalky with chipper, Natone had a great list 2008 and under achieved and somerset only had a list of 25 to pick from with 14 doubling up every game

Have heard on good authority that Chalky waiting on the appointment of Somersets coach to see if he is required and yes he is keen to coach and utilise his big coaches board he flogged off Plappy but would need a good assistant and bench coach if he in fact went to Cuprona as he is tied up most of the summer with cricket at Stowport. He would be mighty upset if in fact he left the Roos and they won the flag so realistically are they are a chance to next year or not ?It is too early to say but the only way up is for the Dogs and they never had anyone apply for the ones and only Jake Jacobson for the ressies but surely any prospective new coach at any club would do a deal with the committee for next year not the season gone so I reckon any would be coach at Cuprona would maybe doing the same thing ?

Very true but they did have some great social functions to go with the double wooden spoon-by the way Peter Saward coached the ressies that fateful year, not Chalky Hee Hee !

The best thing Cuprona could do right now is appoint Chalky as coach. He knows his stuff and has a lot to offer a team like that. Don't forget he is still one of the better FF's in the league!:thumbsu:

If i was a Darwin club, i would be hunting the experienced players at Burnie hard, my mail is there may be a clean out. But i bet they leave before that!

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Coaching Turners Beach reserves, I am led to believe..

Yes i have heard that rumour aswell and Damian Grey is meant to be his assistant coach.
I think browny wanted to coach cuprona again next year but he had his chance with the club as in his first year they made the finals and then they won the last 2 wooden spoons so i think the club wants a new coach with new ideas and players.
I dont think either player will be a loss for the dogs as both players are reserves players in my opinion what i have seen of them.

Heard Damo Grey was headin out there too.. But I disagree with them being reserves players.. Brownie might struggle at Turners Beach to get a senior game as they have a pretty solid midfield, but I think Damo Grey would be good, in a good side..

They are both good players (and blokes 2) but I think the Dogs need to attracked a whole different group of players if they are to go forward and move off the bottom of the ladder. I think if they get Chalky out there to coach it will be a good thing for them. He has some good ideas and I think he will bring some decent players with him as he has alot of 'mates' that im sure would love to play for him. I hope they go ok next year as another spoon will certainly not be good for the club in terms of credability and $$.
