He started his career very injury prone, i think he will slow down very quickly soon. Hes given his all, but the sort of player who will go from being solid, to a liability very quickly. If he gets any decent offer he should take it.

29 year old full back. Come on palwould be a nice pairing with Tarrant for us since thompson would have to be retiring
getting him as a free agent would be good for us and keeps our picks
Free agent keep our picks and lock in a quality kpd for 3-4 years
Yeah nahFree agent keep our picks and lock in a quality kpd for 3-4 years
Yea yea
Was Lids not best 22?He'll be 29 next year so I reckon it will be one final 3 year deal at the Tigers before retirement. I think players want to be one club players unless theres significant reasons not to. Dont underestimate the strong connection he has to play again with his best mate Rance and help him get back to footy as Rance once did with him.
Also, I'm not sure Astbury is the defender you go out and pay massive can't refuse overs for to pry him away from a club he doesnt want to leave. In recent memory, the Tigers just dont lose best 22 players they want to keep, and rarely do those players want to leave.
Was Lids not best 22?
He was injury prone and we actually wanted to get rid of him. Richmond don’t exactly lose best 22 players they indeed to keepWas Lids not best 22?
He is a classic Hawthorn recruit IMO.
Under rated player that will come in and play a solid role at the Hawks ala Frawley
Nah they won’t lowball. With Garth coming through and Rance back next year can defs see tigers lowballing this contract
Dogs have to at least ask the question (I hope anyway) given Trengove is currently our number 1 key defenderNah they won’t lowball.
But another club will definitely try to tempt him with a significantly higher offer to try to prise him away.
And playing great footy though.Dogs have to at least ask the question (I hope anyway) given Trengove is currently our number 1 key defender
View of most Dogs fans is he isn’t really a key back. Plays his best footy in the ruck. He suits some forwards like resting ruckman but gets exposed with anyone with pace like Brown yesterdayAnd playing great footy though.
He's been very good for you this year.
Ah fair enough.View of most Dogs fans is he isn’t really a key back. Plays his best footy in the ruck. He suits some forwards like resting ruckman but gets exposed with anyone with pace like Brown yesterday
If only he played on Brown this would be so accurate. Garth played on Brown and god knows whyWell beaten by brown tonight
But imo would still be a handy replacement for Thompson next year
Dont believe we would go more than $400k x 3 yearsI wouldn’t expect our offer to be ridiculously high or long considering the star youngsters we gotta re sign . If he stays it will be on a 2y modest deal
If he's willing to leave for cash / guarantee of not losing his spot, then the Dogs would be stupid not to beat that. Could easily pay upwards of $500k x 3 and not even blink an eye, while also plugging a serious hole in our defenceDont believe we would go more than $400k x 3 years
I don’t believe he would split for that narrow a gap , he had an opportunity a while ago to go to lions and stayed , very tight with playing groupIf he's willing to leave for cash / guarantee of not losing his spot, then the Dogs would be stupid not to beat that. Could easily pay upwards of $500k x 3 and not even blink an eye, while also plugging a serious hole in our defence
