From what I've seen, he seems to be a pretty good player, but many Essendon people don't rate him, and feel that you should be looking for a top line ruckman. What kind of standard is he, and who would you compare him to?

Before this year he wasn't rated by anyone, now he is established as our #1 ruckman at 22/3 years of age. Has a volleyball background and only took up footy at around 16. He's also more than handy in the forward line and is a huge kick for goal, probably the best outside of Lloyd from 50+. Kicked about 20 goals for us this year, including 4 against the Doggies in round 4. In a perfect world, we would nab Brad Ottens and the two could rotate between CHF and Ruck all game (im drooling now;) ). As it is, we'll probably look at Matthew Allan as a backup ruck to Hille. Unless we can land a very good, young ruckman (ie Gardiner) which is HIGHLY unlikely, Hille will be a very good prospect for the next few years. I think he finished 7th in hitouts this season and played every game, a great effort basically carrying the ruck division for a young man.

Improved out of sight this year.

He's still an inexperienced ruckman though, and of all positions, they take the longest to mature (ie justin madden, darcy, primus, gardiner etc etc). So short term he needs some help carrying the load.

He has loads of talent though, and even this early in his career, he's as good as any ruckman in the league pushing forward, and could play as a permanent forward quite successfully.

Would earn his spot in the team as a CHF alone...not really a born ruckman but he's got the best ruck coach in the business helping him out...

As a ruckman, he's improved immensely from two years ago. While he's yet to nail the consistency, we've seen glimpses of how he can destroy champion ruckmen (Hille vs. Darcy, rnd 4 2003 as a shining example)

I would hate to lose Hille now especially with all the effort that has been put in to him. He will be an absolute star in a few years and has improved out of sight for the bombers this year.
Without him we would be in trouble.

However I consider him more of a relief ruckman and has struggled at the bounces and around the ground ruck on occasions however his forward skills are excellent been a good mark and kick. I would love for Essendon to get an out and out ruckman like an Allan who would play the majority of his time in the ruck with Hille a relief ruckman. That would be the ultimate.

Yep, did Darce like a dinner that game. It was ugly to watch. Hopefully we can get a ruckman to do the real work (Hille perhaps?) and watch Darcy do some real damage up forward like he used to.

Dont listen to outsides opinions of Hilley. He is fantastically improving in his ruck duties, and he is a quiet achciever, and a much underrated ruckman in the competition.

Remember his destruction of Gardner? Huge potential, and if we lose him, it could be the key to out premiership hopes within the next few years.

Hille to the bulldogs?

Spend your money on a doggies membership rather than whatever it is you're smoking...

I heard the 3 way deal. The Dogs may be picking up Peter Street from the Cats....whilst Rawlings to Geelong and Brown to the Hawks....

Its what I heard, an intensifying rumour.

I doubt Hille will leave the Dons.

interested

geelong missed out on rawlings he is now going to the roo's to play with his bro and i heard geelong are interested in hille

of course not :p
but i'd say he'd been in our top 5 most important players (not 'best') and that we would be stupid not to do everything in our power to keep him.

of course, there's a few clubs who would obviously like to have him, and this is going to bump up his price a bit.
