Brisbane are a shambles really. They spend 6 months luring Beams over then when the time comes to actually secure him they decide to play silly buggers at the trade table.

Yep, it was all us.

If we don't get it done this year, which looks possible - then we get him next year.

Probably not as cheap as what many of our posters think, more likely for whatever our first round pick will be next year, but with no sweeteners.

Which hopefully is closer to 10 than 1, but in all likelihood - it will be a single figure pick.

12 Months is a long time

Beams might stay with Collingwood
GWS might offer a Godfather deal
Beams might get his nose out of joint with Brisbane
Beams might just decide to go to GC

Amazing through this whole situation how confident you Brissy supporters have been and none of it has gone to plan yet has it?

LOL! Have you considered that Collingwood is being unreasonable in their demands?

Nope. For a player of Beams quality we're actually being very reasonable. If you're trying to lure contracted players everyone knows that you need to make a decent offer because the only way to secure your guy is by going through the club he's contracted to. If Brisbane didn't want to lose any of their good players (of which they have precious little of to offer anyway) then they should have ensured they did have something of worth to us. Thinking pick 5 and 25 would cut it was just idiocy and I refuse to believe a professional AFL recruting team would've thought that adequate at any point.

In who's eyes is pick 5 and 25 not enough? Collingwood and it's supporters is the answer to that question.

5 and 25 for one player is fair.

Will Collingwood be willing to offer Levi the same amount of money if Beams stays?

Yes.
We have quite a lot of cap space.
Currently we have the third youngest list in the AFL.
We are about to unload Lumumba who is on $400 k per year.

That is just anti-Collingwood bias. Beams will probably be the greatest player to come out of the 2008 draft. Definitely worth pick 5 and a established player for mine.

Beams would be your best mid.
He is a better performed mid than anyone on your list.

Only knock I'd have on him is that he has never copped a tag ever. Totally unknown whether he can handle one as of yet.

This is bit of a furphy.
In 2012 Pendlebury broke his leg.
At the same time Dane Swan missed numerous games due to a hamstring injury.
I remember Scott Selwood, who won WC's B&F in 2012 go to Beams twice in the second half of the year.
He completely decimated him and won both games off his own play being tagged.

Id have taken 25 and 5 without a worry. Planning for ahead is important and a player who wants out will go. The other thing is you could always pick up an experienced played with 25 anyway.
