Let's clear a few things up.

Beams is not going to sit out next year. If he was that desperate to spend time with his dad that he would sit out a year of football to live in QLD with his dad, why wouldn't he just be open to a trade to Gold Coast? It's clearly because Gold Coast can only pay him half what Brisbane can.

And lets stop with the whole "you're such a terrible club for not letting Beams live with his dying father". The club has to look after its own best interests whilst trying to do the best by Dayne. Dayne, on the other hand, only has to worry about his own priorities. If he wants to live in QLD close to his dad, why would he not be open to playing for less at Gold Coast if it allows him to spend more time with his "dying" dad as everyone likes to put it. Why is Collingwood being made to look like the bad guys if Dayne refuses to take a paycut and prioritises $$ over being able to move and live near his dad?

Pick 5's from 2006-2010
Jared Polec
Ben Cunnington
Michael Hurley
Jarrad Grant
Travis Boak

Pick 25s from 2006-2010
Patrick Karnezis
Aaron Black
Jack Redden
Tom Collier
Nathan Djerkura

Would swap Beams for 1 in 5 of those sets of players. 1 in 5 of those sets of years are terrible. So 4 in 5 chance says no, its not a particularly reasonable deal.

Cherry picking the guys selected in those positions doesn't stand up to critical analysis. You should be looking at the best players picked in the 5-10 range over that period of time.

Opportunity to pick up the 5th best talent in the country (and potentially better if someone slides or Coll rates someone higher than other teams) is nothing to sneeze at. Where was Beams drafted? (Or Grundy, Wingard, Wines, Fyfe for that matter?)

Collingwood should be able to back their scouting, drafting and development to make mint out of that pick. Some very good players have been picked in the top 25.

Collingwood pick the eyes out of three consecutive drafts and all of a sudden they have a golden generation coming through.

Ahhh I see. We are expected to get the best player available at that pick and never make a recruiting mistake in order to make a rubbish deal fair. I see :drunk:

Effectively what you're saying is that no deal containing draft picks for a proven player will ever be worthwhile. This is obviously very questionable.

Your an idiot who clearly doesn't know what is behind this tweet, Marco had similar circumstances in his family this year that Dayne currently has, the only difference being the Lions showed the compassion and assisted him with this grief.

Grow up!!

i didn't realise you traded Marco back to Perth for unders. For i am sure Collingwood would also help Dayne with the same compassion assistance you tell us of. Nice story but you have left out the rest of it champ

You're probably spitting that Aish isn't included in the deal, picked at 7 last year. Pick is 5 is so bad.

For what it's worth, Beams posted a photo of him with his dad on instagram with the following caption.

"So happy to be able to have a beer with my old man after 8 months , he beat the prick of a disease and is living life to its fullest . Proud to be his son !!"

Unless I'm missing something I'm unaware of here.....

Aren't Pies fans filthy that the Pies backed down on their "quality player from Brisbane" stance. I thought Dekka was unequivocal.

The real deadline (not the confected one) is 2pm Thursday, if nothing gets done, we're stuck with Christensen, pick 5 and 25. Woe is us right?

Pies have a disgruntled gun with a contract going tick... tick... tick

Oh I forgot to mention that Brisbane will also have a massive amount of cap space to bank for next year. Gee, I wonder what we'll be doing with that next year...

Looks like Collingwood and Essendon, have lived up to their reputations as being extremely difficult to deal with. When was the last time either of these teams had a smooth trade, without completely trying to screw the other club.

5 + 25 (Probably worth 5+15). Is under, but not by much. When a player, has publicly expressed his desire to leave. You lose your position of power. It's not as if Brisbane or Port Adelaide asked what would it take to get Beam/ Ryder. These guys want to leave.

False - Brisbane have come in and tried (and failed) to poach a contracted player. It aint the same as Ryder.

"Caddy, picked up with pick seven of last year's national draft, was seeking to return to Victoria because his father is ill."

I assume this illness was not just a cold. Clearly pretty serious. I would say it makes no difference if it was cancer or not.

He had a heart condition, but I can guarantee to a tee the Caddy's were exploiting that one - he just wanted out. I was calling it at the time. Have a mate that works for the family. They are a fricken weird mob - his brothers should be in a zoo.

Nah, would be good with 5+21+Greenwood. Not filthy at all (at the club that is). I wonder what Beams thinks about Brisbane refusing to deal...

Nah, try again. That's not at all what I'm saying.

You're suggesting that pick 5 isn't good enough as it is a bit of a lottery, you could do this for all draft picks including even pick 1. No draft pick guarantees you a better player than Beams, which is what you are demanding.

You could've picked Aish with the same pick last year, Ollie Wines the year before, Chad Wingard the year before that. It's not as bad as you think.

LOL. Nice one. :thumbsu:

I'm sure his manager will be letting us know Dayne's thoughts soon enough.

Why would Beams & Connors be keen to join Brisbane when they literally balls'd up the trade?

Stop letting the truth get in the way of a good story. If his dad no longer has cancer then how on earth can everyone paint the Pies as the bad guy!!!!! I'm sure they'll find a way lol
