Copied from dlanod's 2018 trade period autopsy:

Net result:

IN: Neale, Adams, McCarthy, 2018 picks 18, 30, 35, 55, 56, 78; 2019 picks 15 (Coll 1st round), 19 (GC Second round), 42 (FRE third round pick). Add in Lyons as a delisted FA to the 2018 haul too.

OUT: Beams, Mayes, 2018 picks 5, 24, 43, 62, 80, 2019 pick 14.

The picks don't line up identically to 2018 draftees due to bidding shuffling and our trade to get Answerth.

Simplifying this a bit (yeah I know It's still not quite right but anyway):

Removing the picks in the 50+ range (which are still well in out favour) and with the 2019 first rounders (14/15) pretty much cancelling eachother out it could be viewed more like this(?):

Net result:

IN: Neale, Adams, McCarthy, Lyons 2018: picks 18, 30, 35, 2019: picks 19 (GC), 42 (FRE).

OUT: Beams, Mayes, 2018: picks 5, 24, 43

Seems almost too good to be true!

Seriously good off-season wasn’t it. Bring in 4 mature, first 22 players, including an All Australian in the hottest contended position. Considerably strengthen our draft position for the following year, all while still taking a first round and 3 second round prospects. Not just happy with that, we casually trade back in to take Answerth.
Couldn't ask for anything more.

The Gold Coast trade really unlocked heaps of value for us, especially when you consider how Collingwood was trying lever on the Neale trade.
At one stage we looked like walking away with just Collingwood 2019 R2 pick. Made the trade, unlocked the Neale dead-lock, forced Collingwood to up there offer for Beams, walk away able to use pick 18 last year, bank pick 19 and 42.

I remember saying at the time that it was an ALPHA trade from noble.

After the season has passed, it has become clear that noble is clairvoyant.

Best trade period in recent memory.
