Are there still any stupid rules allowing clubs to get the top picks before the regular sequence from bottom to top-finishing clubs?

Does GWS still get the top 100 picks before the wooden spooner gets to pick?

Yes, its called priority pick and there is a massive chance that Carlton will get one this year. Especially since we have their 2nd, which will be pick 19. Carlton have no shame and I would be surprised if they haven't been asking for priority picks these last few years already. If they get priority picks(s) they could well be before their number 1 pick, so essentially they will get the first 2 picks of the draft. If the VFL insists on doing that, then they may have to pretend to be fair and also give Brisbane one, who have been similarly down the bottom of the ladder for an extended period. So it may be that an extra 2 picks area added to the front of the draft.

By Murphy's law, we could end up getting a fantastic pick from Melbourne and still not get any of the SA guns that we are desperate for.

Doubt it. The last time Brisbane lobbied the AFL for priority pick the answer was no.

Brisbane got one in 2016, but it was end of first round. My fear is that this year it will be beginning of first round for potentially Brisbane and Carlton.

Edit: Even end of first round would be a disaster for us, having Carlton's 2nd.

I cannot find a record of that happening in either 2015 or 2016

So far, so good.

Where the hell is that gif of the loss ticking over??
Sorry, been away since Sat - driving thru The Fog country, in fact - to Nelson, Vic.

What a glorious weekend! :rainbow: :tearsofjoy: We win, Bloos and Dees getting done, and watching Port getting done ... glorious!

Will do a double update next weekend.

Can you add what our pick number from Melbourne is at it currently stands as our thanks to Jake.

Surely Melbourne will beat Essendon but then again it’s at Ethiad which I don’t think they have a good record there and Essendon obviously do.

I would be favouring the Dons at Etihad... but both teams are flakey, so no confidence.

My gut feel without knowing what they are thinking is we will keep Lynch & lose Sloane... which would mean we need to target a readymade midfielder like Dalhaus.
Dahlhaus has looked pretty cooked at the Bulldogs in the past couple of years imo. They've pushed him out of the midfield (where he was his best) for whatever reason and pushed him forward where he doesn't really have the ability to kick it 40min, nor the composure to kick a set shot no matter where he marks it.

Given the Dogs midfield is pretty weak, I don't think it's a great sign that they've pushed him out of the midfield either.

He shouldnt cost much then

27 August next year. Should get to 150 games by the end of the year. His production is down a little over the last 2 years , but only 28 games, so injured?

He played 22 games last season and 17 the season prior.

Probably being a touch harsh given his age but do watch him closely as my brother follows the Dogs and it feels like he's really fallen off last season and hasn't looked any better this year.
