I give us a less than 10% chance of getting Dangerfield next year, pipe dream at best
Edit:
DammitI'd give us 1% chance, and that's being optimistic!

Yeah and that was the game our players had diahrea in Geelong this year so they think we might want himDo not want. Will be 23 next season, played 7 games, top possession total of 13. There is nothing that demands even a rookie list spot with that.
Stats don't tell the full tale on him ... he has a ferocious attack on the ball, and likely that is what Simmo sees in him.Do not want. Will be 23 next season, played 7 games, top possession total of 13. There is nothing that demands even a rookie list spot with that.
Stats help though. We need skill in our team, not ferocious attack, he butchers the ball on the few times he actually touches it. We have patrick mcginnity who is a far better player that can fill that role. Would be very disappointed if we got him.Stats don't tell the full tale on him ... he has a ferocious attack on the ball, and likely that is what Simmo sees in him.
Agreed. There are enough Melbourne teams who are desperate that would be able to match, and beat anything we could offer, so they won't be moving west, unless they are WA boys.Unless theres a go home factor it's going to be incredibly difficult for us to land a big name FA signing so the likelihood of us picking up someone like dangerfield or Cotchin is remote unless we put in an irresponsibly high/long contract offer
This. How many non-WA players have we traded in over the past 20 years? The cries for 'immediate ballsy action' to flex our muscle and bring in a superstar are a bit tiring.Unless theres a go home factor it's going to be incredibly difficult for us to land a big name FA signing so the likelihood of us picking up someone like dangerfield or Cotchin is remote unless we put in an irresponsibly high/long contract offer

Gazza, Buddy, Tippet, etc all go after big money - no go-home factor involved there.
Identify the player we want and throw everything at him. It's a great lifestyle out here and some players would take that + BIG money + the new stadium.
No harm in having a go!
A brand new face to #DonTheSash: http://bombe.rs/1E6QuyY Exciting Irish prospect Conor Mckenna joins the Bombers! - afl.com.au
Correct! We are a big club with big sponsors. We should start throwing our weight around instead of getting bent over by the likes of Port, etc.
True.
Hawthorn and Sydney have also shown a propensity to develop late draft picks into guns. Smith and Hill and Hannebery and Parker for example.
It can't be denied it gives a huge jump start to competing at the top again.
Time for Shuey, Sheed, Yeo, Waterman and co to pull a finger out.
I know he was impressed with their training facility, our "state of the art 20 years ago" facilities and stadium may not have impressed. Shame, would have liked us to branch out in that direction, plenty of Irish over here, would have appealed to that community. That's a slap in the face. Essendon is an absolute shitheap at the moment, what with the court case and everything, and this bloke still wants to go there?

Head not quite 100% committed to full time professional football. Has a fair amount of talent but has put on a bit of weight since returning to Perth and enjoys his weekends. One question to those that watch WAFL and are more in the know. What ever happened to Jayden Schofield? He played games for the Bulldogs in year one and was impressive and now languishes between ressies and league for the Sharks?
West Coast should have taken him to JB O'Reilly's for a couple of pints of the black stuff - biggest seller of Guinness in Australia (not just WA) - says a bit about the size of the Irish community ..... or maybe just how good a pint Paul keeps in that place!I know he was impressed with their training facility, our "state of the art 20 years ago" facilities and stadium may not have impressed.
