Better chance of game time at st kildaLooks like even delisted players are going to reject playing for the Eagles......
In the short term. Just like Sheed won't make that much difference to our side next year. Outside players can make a difference from day one, particularly in a side that lacks agility and in the forward half and pace in the middleHmm, not sure about that.
Who would Weller be compared with in the AFL?
EFABetter chance of game time at st kilda
Better chance of finals (just) at West Coast
Already lives in Melbourne
Assuming a comparable contract offer why would he move to Perth
Based on that evidence, Cockatoo looks like the player who can carry a team. Can break a tackle, burst out of packs and can kick running goals. Do want. Not sure if this has been posted but the more videos of Cockatoo I see the more I like this guy.

The problem is he gets really low numbers playing in the middle even at high school level. But surely the reward would be that he ends up like a Ziebell or Mundy, which wouldn't add to our side as much in the near future as a fast outside mid would.
lower production, longer kickJames Aish
What does this mean?
The problem is he gets really low numbers playing in the middle even at high school level.
Really, from all reports he's been mid-20's+ in his average possessions... pretty sure he had a 24 possession game in NEAFL this season too.lower production, longer kick
He did ok, not great. Wasn't super in his handful of TAC games, not at school level. He did well in the u18 champs.
Less. Just 20 I think and it's a lower level of competition.Really, from all reports he's been mid-20's+ in his average possessions... pretty sure he had a 24 possession game in NEAFL this season too.

The prospect of De Goey @ # 11. Doesn't inspire me at all.
He would be a very safe pick granted but I can't help thinking that we would be selling our selves short by spending # 11 on him.
Is he a genuine midfielder - NO
Does he have genuine speed - NO
Is he a high possession getter - NO
Does he have elite foot skills - NO .....but he is OK
Does he provide versatility - YES
Is he a bigger bodied midfield option - YES
Would he be best available @ # 11- NO
Does he have footy smarts - YES
Simpson says he rates:
1. Hunger for the contest .
2. Versatility .
3. High footy IQ .
De Goey does tick all three prerequisites.
Safe enough selection however not sure that he addresses any area of real need .
I will remain a cynic of this selection, if it comes to be ,
untill his performances warrant the high pick .
I would be thrilled to be proven wrong on this one as I just want the best for our Club. But I would feel very underwhelmed if we took him at # 11.
Sort of like you get the budget to go out a buy a BMW but you come back with a Golf .
His new video on AFL.com is much more impressive, looks a lot more like a slightly slower and taller version of Daniel Hannebery. Never the less his production is concerning and his kicking over rated.
I am a bit surprised at the lack of love for Jarrod Garlett on this thread. Having watched the WA v Vic Country game, I rated his game better than Jarrod Pickett's. He is highly skilled, is really fast, agile has an excellent work effort, good disposal, reads the play well and does all the one percenters.
If we take Pickett or the ****-Or-Two with our first I'm pretty sure Garlett would be gone by the time we get to our pick 32. Interested in want those who watch Garlett more closely think of him.
It wouldn't worry me if he was our first pick.
I'm leery of these AFL.com videos, some of these inside mids don't seem to do much on the inside... prefer some of the stuff on youtube. Still, best stuff for analysis is cuts of full games where you get to see every touch, both effectual and ineffectual. In that respect the AFL draft scene has a lot missing when compared to US pro sports.
Anyone in mind? There don't seem to be too many genuine midfielders as you truly said.
It means we could release Yeo and Shuey to play outside
He did ok, not great. Wasn't super in his handful of TAC games, not at school level.
Don't get me wrong, plays ok, just struggles to win much ball outside of the contest. Inside mid getting 12 touches aint great.
Not at our pick.
Pickett - Elite ball use, explosive speed, agility, small, defensive side needs to improve.
Weller - Great kick (duel sided), fast, small, very outside.
De Goey - Great Mark, good size, average kick (kicks too long*), low disposal count, not a full time mid (yet*).
Laverde - Fast, tall, versatile, average kick, not a full time mid (yet).
Ahern - Fast, Agile, goal kicker, small, full time midfielder at AFL level?
And see their effect diminished?
Kicks too long?
A real weakness.
