If WC were to agree with your stance of "Couldn’t care less what we have to give Geelong, just get it done" and give up next year's 1st round selection as part of the Kelly trade, the consequence is that finding replacements for Hurn and Jetta gets pushed back, and the subsequent development time to integrate their replacements doesn't coincide correctly. That's the consequence of not valuing picks and advocating to give Geelong whatever they want. You're not taking into consideration list management at all. Your sole focus is on getting Kelly at any expense.

That would be you. In your own words: "Couldn’t care less what we have to give Geelong, just get it done." It's implied that you're willing to.

That's quite an assumption. Your irrational point is: 'agree with me or you don't understand that you cannot be forever up the top.'

WC can trade in Kelly, hopefully win a couple of premierships, all without having to resort to the insanity of "Couldn’t care less what we have to give Geelong, just get it done."

I'm the arbiter of my opinion, not you. Unless you have direct quotes to work off, you're making shit up as you go. I'm pro-tanking during WC's down years. So your call is flat out wrong.

Giving up "a couple of second round draft picks" is a far cry from your earlier stated position of "Couldn’t care less what we have to give Geelong, just get it done."

And I never claimed that is your position. I was specific in what I stated.

I can appreciate that, just not under the proviso of "Couldn’t care less what we have to give Geelong, just get it done."

It’s pretty obvious that Geelong have absolutely no intention of trading Kelly with out us offering significant overs.

In many ways I do understand their position, they are rolling the dice for one last hoorah with this current group and they get to keep Kelly who is A grade talent that only costs them 120K plus match payments, so that a bargain basement deal.

We enquirerd , gave it our best shot , put up a fair offer, it’s been rejected.

We move on , we realign and focus on the defence of the Cup.

While disappointing ....... and I do acknowledge that Kelly would have been a fine acquisition to our playing stocks as well as bolstering our midfield,........ It wasn’t to be.

We have made two grand finals in the past four seasons, lost one , won one ....all done with out Kelly playing for us.

He was a want not a need.

Besides we have already regained an A grade midfielder who wasn’t in our last finals series ..... Mr Andrew Gaff.
Can you please not be so rational

Not going to lie, my salt levels are reaching Fremantle on the salt-o-meter

Tom Scully traded for a future 4th rounder. No doubt the hawks will be lauded for returning him from the Western Sydney hell hole and the fact they got him for a steal will go down as the greatest trade in AFL history. Meanwhile West Coast are being made to look like Joseph Fritzel in our abhorrent treatment of Tim Kelly.

We can add a pretty decent half back flanker in Sheppard and then who knows whether we get the Flying Fijian at the end of 2019 as the differentiator.

Looking good. I also expect significant development from some of the players who missed out.

I suggest it will be tight for spots come next year even without Kelly.

If you use last years trading period as a guide to player value, the Cats have well and truly got their heads stuck right up their ar*es.

Last year
Devon Smith went for pick 11
Jake Lever 10
Impey 34
Gibbs 10 and 26
Stringer 25 and 30
Ablett 19
Saad for a future second rounder
Schache 25 and 40

This year
McGovan 13
Hannaberry 28 and a pick swap
Aaron Hall. 68
Shield looks like will go for 9
Wingard 18 plus a player
Polec & Pittard 11 plus future pick

2016 Trade Period
Brad Hill 23
Tom Mitchell 14 & 52
Caddy 24 & 64

So how the hell is a first year mature age player worth Pick 10 in a very strong draft.

But Geelong want an O’Meara deal, where we sell all our picks at a huge loss to a third party to move up the order, then bundle that with all of next year’s picks for Kelly.

Here is my tip: The Collingwood game against Norf will not be one of the 4 Hobart games.

Just did a quick look, seems Collingwood has never played for premiership points in Tasmania or the Northern Territory in their entire history

A future 4th rounder mind you

At least it's Gold Coast's fourth rounder, not their own. So it'll probably be about 49-50 before compo picks.

They basically got Scrimshaw and Scully for a future third though. There should be an inquiry.

I reckon you would have Oscar in your list. He’s a pick 50+ player. Happy for you to take him with pick 20
Oscar Brownless to be bid on by West Coast

Let me think - a Brownless. Do they fit our mantra?

Friends - my dad's best friend shagged my mum? fail
Family - mum and dad aren't together and dad is a muppet? fail
Flags? Didn't dad lose a flag to the Eagles in 1992! And again in 1994. fail

I would argue Monocle that we have offered significant overs based on similar recent trades.

I think we'll probably trade 20 and 22 for a future first from a bottom six club (GC, Carlton, St Kilda), then give that to Geelong for Kelly. That would equate to a top 10 pick for him, plus we won't have to trade our own future first.

Either that, or get something off GWS tomorrow.

Hawks went out in straight sets this year, and they have reinforced the f*** out of their midfield but their defence and forward lines are not that good. We've shown this year that midfields aren't necessary to win you flags.

It's a last roll of the dice for them just like Geelong's stubborn insistence on retaining Kelly.
