Motlop was around 500k for 4 years and got cats a 2nd band compo .

Lycett should def get the same

Cats needed the band 2 to get Ablett from GC. The AFL is rigged like that. If we get band 3 for Lycett we should force a trade with Port.

Maybe Lycett and our Gaff compo for their first rounder, or the pick 10 from North for Polec. Then trade that first to Geelong for Kelly.

I mean, everyone knows it'll be pick 3, but they haven't said so while Gold Coast are still considering whether to match.

Conversely with the unrestricted free agents (Dahlhouse and Conca) they've said pretty quickly what the compo is.

I’m 100% convinced the AFL manipulate the compo to what suits their agenda, hence the Motlop compo. So although with past precedent we should get band 2 I’m not counting my chickens until it is announced.

Gaff needs to make a decision before the 3 days we have to match Lycetts offer expires

The FA compo looks at the net loss of players so we’re far more likely to get band 2 for Lycett if we’re also losing gaff as the band 1 compo we get for him is manifestly inadequate

If Gaff stays maybe that drops Lycett down to band 3 if the AFL decide to be kents. And if Lycett is band 3 then I dare say we’ll match

Zero interest in Hickey.

Not sure. Out of all the ruckman mentioned, Hickey is the only one who isn't a pinch hitter? He can play the occasional good game but has been inconsistent at the saints. But I feel with Vardy and Nic Nat on the list we are in need of a pure ruck who can crash and bash all game. Not sure if Lobb is the answer personally.

I don't love the idea of Hickey either, but equally worried about the other options floated.
