John Thompson this under-rated trainer has two powerful hopes in (5) Heartsareforlove 14/1 and (19) Count Your Fingers 30/1 in race 3, the Wakeful Stakes 2000m (3YO Fillies, sw, Grp 2) at Flemington.
Heartsareforlove ran 2nd/16 to Yosei in the Grp 1 Thousand Guineas 1600m at Caulfield and this is a sound formline. She appeals to me as a filly who will relish the challenge of the 2000m. Count Your Fingers has huge potential. She ran 5th/16 at Randwick 1600m on Oct 16 and had good form in Brisbane before that. Thompson is sneaking her into Melbourne over today's trip and I fancy she will handle it - her dam is by Zabeel.
