Footy coverage has gone down hill in a big way since the demise of fox footy and channel 9 not having it anymore.

Footy coverage has gone downhill since the AFL became greedy and worried all about $$ and coverage in NSW and QLD.

The game did finish late, the quarters were long. Ten should be flexible enough to go five minutes overtime.

As for all these Channel 9 lovers, I couldn't stand their coverage of AFL. The commentators who think they're bigger than the game itself, the irritating Dermott "I know everything" Brereton with his sophisticated talk about relatively simple matters. And they've been cutting sport off before the end for years - cricket particularly.

Disgraceful effort
It took a game in which I had no emotional investment to show up every irritation channel ten has to offer. And I'm pissed and on the internet, always a great combination.

For the "serious game" we were assured it was, nothing says "serious" like novelty camera angles, umpires dressed like the Borg and talking to the coaches during the f#@king game. All it did for me was indicate how half arsed it was that they could take time out for a yak when they were supposed to do their jobs. At least Chocko sounded at times like he couldn't get away from the conversation fast enough but that could just =Chocko being Chocko.

Callers barracking their team- Huddo getting the pompoms and the skirt out every time a Geelong player got near it, Quarters breathing heavy over Franklin etc.. Once upon a time the occaisional oblique reference to team loyalties was cute, but it has spread to plague proportions. Seriously guys, you have the unique privilege of describing Football to the masses for a living, grow the f#@k up and stop pretending that bias=colour.

One more f#@king 'joke' about Vossy the coach and I'll punch the tv. He might succeed one day, but as of right now he hasn't been appointed and he sure as hell isn't proven. All I can say is that if they keep hyping Voss, he had better go well because he's being set up for a fall otherwise

As for the game, I enjoyed it- Buddy and Fev lived up to their reputations, Scarlett and Burgoyne had great nights, Goodes played some excellent passages, I like Nathan Foley more every time I see him (a player in the Paul Kelly 200% mold imo) and there were plenty of entertaining passages of play. Sure it was an exhibition match and no amount of intelligence insulting pre game hype was going to convince me otherwise, but I was keen for entertainment and no major injuries- the players did their bit while Ten did their level best to screw it up.
