AFLW Round 10 - 2024 AFLW season

She has had a strong second half of the season, including the Suns game which was her least prolific statistically.

Would be a tough Rising Star race if Matilda Scholz wasn't in the running, or if a couple others also spent last year settling in at AFLW level.

Maddy Prespakis has had a 3rd-consecutive AA-worthy season for Essendon. Will she be stupidly overlooked for a second year in a row?

Bombers still making finals with very little contribution from Toogood says it all.

Purely academic, but how much would Port have to lose by for Melbourne to jump above them? ~120pts?

Fremantle need to win 110 to 0 against the Western Bulldogs if they want to finish top 4.
If they started the game 110 to 0, Fremantle would have to score 10 to 11 points everytime Western Bulldogs kick a goal.

I hate to say it but we seem to play better without Toogood we are less predicable in the forward line.

Gotta feel for Bonnie she had a rough year first her knee now the ankle.

Perosnally I would have made her miss the entire season get her cherry ripe and fit for 2025

Even if the Bulldogs and Giants lose by 100 points today, the bottom 5 spots on the ladder will stay as is. So I'm willing to bet it's not premature to summarise the progress of Collingwood, Gold Coast, Sydney and Carlton.

Collingwood's last five seasons (figures include finals)

And given that a 100-point loss wouldn't see Port drop out of the 8, it's also safe to say Melbourne are locked into 9th place:

Another throbbing mess of jumpers. Has to be clear dark v light matchups for Indigenous Round, particularly afternoon games when the shadows make everything look the same from a distance.

Brisbane now 2nd on the live ladder. Not just the million on the line for them and Hawthorn today, but also home ground advantage for next week's 2 v 3 qualifying final.

North Melbourne finish the regular season with a percentage of 315.4, which is a new AFLW record beating the 282.4 achieved by Brisbane in the second 2022 season.

Begs the question why Garner was never included in the Erin v Daisy debate. How Collingwood were using her in the early days of the AFLW and her age and experience compared the other two are probably the big reasons, but what she has been doing on the park for the last seven seasons there are strong claims that she is the best player in AFLW history. Probably needs to lead her team to a premiership win to really cement that claim.

because in the league infancy, these two were clearly a step above everyone else -

Garner's body of work over the following season's will get herself talked about in these kinds of discussions but she wasn't a glaring omission from the outset

Tyanna Smith with 6 tackles and 6 clearances to 3QT. You like to see that from a speedy youngster / classy user by foot... or do you? Not so much, if it means she's not getting any outside footy whatsoever: 10 disposals, 6 metres gained.

And 5 seconds later she gets two I50s by bursting out the pack and kicking long to Wardlaw one-out (who should've done better with at least one of those chances).

Wardlaw has kicked 2 but missed a couple in the 2nd half she should've put away. They weren't gonna put her in the AA team anyway, but it's taken a bit of the gloss off another strong game and season.
