Very pleased with the standard of umpiring on show today at the gunn. The two blokes there will go places
Two young fella's and they were great, seems to be that the young one's don't guess , they pay frees when they should. Bad luck to Preston , good first year in D1 and have some very good people running the show. Once again Ormond were slow out of the blocks, but came home hard with an 11 goals to 4 2nd half, bring on the Glen Iris boys.

Well said, I had a friend of mine at this game and he said the umps did a great job !!! No perfect hair princesses or fluro wearing odd balls, just two young umps doing a wonderful job.. hope these two get up the grades..

"How goods footy"

Agreed Bedford and The Army. If only we had this standard of umpiring every week! Finals around the corner, hopefully a sign of things to come!!

One of them is a regular A grade umpire so you would hope he did a good job!

If you want that quality umpiring every week, then get up the grades! You can't expect D1 umpiring to be at A grade standard, no local league can have 4 divisions of that quality of umpires, they just dont exist.

Looking forward to this weekends finals series ............

Oakleigh were very good against us on the weekend and as such I don't think PEGS will have it all their own way.

Also, very excited that our Reserves have hung onto fourth and a finals opportunity.

Chump

To anyone else it makes sense, why should PEGS have to travel 2 days in a row, make Ormond play over the 2 days as they are 5 minutes down the road.

Also the D1 GF will most likely be at Elsternwick, so surely a good move to play the Semi Final there?

As for playing 9.20, that would just make the umpires appointments even harder, chances are the goal umpires will do both Reserves and Seniors on the weekend. Bit hard on them if it was 2 different days!

Because of where PEGS finished. No problems playing on the big deck at all. Stuff PEGS.

We are happy to play anywhere and on either day..........just happy to still be playing in round 19!

That said, it is a bit strange that 1 and 2 in bother the seniors and reserves are not playing on the Saturday and 3 and 4 play on the Sunday..... giving a slight advantage (the following week) to the teams that finished highest after the home and away season.

Chump.

Maybe the league thought, Ormond are so far ahead of the competition in the reserves it doesnt matter which day they play, they wont be playing next week anyway!
Maybe some volunteers are involved with both teams, as well as trainors etc, then having to double up.

A good regular season sets up a damn fine finals series. SMS can't beat PEGS, interesting...

Who is gonna win the medal?

What are the chances of a forward? Skurrie and Romanyk both had a good season, will take votes off each other, Cloke has kept The Krushers in the race all year, Dolan must draw the attention of the voters.

Matt Hine and Tom Buckley from Ormond should do well.
Unfortunately for the boys from the Gunn, they have been up to their old tricks according to the rumour that's going around. Playing some Gunns from their 17's in their 19's to help them get into 4th spot has now cost their 17's a chance to play in a GF. What a farce that is, and I feel for the other lads in the 17's who will now miss out. Maybe the voice of the Ammos , Mr Bedders should worry about his own backyard.

I'm told two guys from SMS were watching our training session last night - for a Reserves final!

Should have popped in for a beer and a Thursday meal and you could have heard the side read out :)

See you tomorrow - may the best team win.

Bedders .............. I see the number 10 is named!

Should be a closely contested finals series, very hard to separate any clear favorite in the Seniors and Ormond look the strong pick in the Reserves.

Good luck to all teams on the weekend and for those who progress I hope you do so without further injuries. We want to see the best players playing this time of year.

Chump.
