Not out of the question for Elsternwick to make finals as they have two very winnable games but would be relying on Uni High to lose to both Powerhouse and West Brunny.

Hawthorn looming as red hot faves to join Mt Lilydale in the drop. Round 18 clash with Powerhouse could be the decider although the House would fancy themselves against uni High at home this week.
Elsternwick cant make the finals, thank god!
What odds the Gryphons to beat Yarra this week?

This is how the season will pan out, not too hard to pick really:

1 – PA
2 – Yarra
3 – Gryphs
4 – Ivanhoe
5 – UHS

Finals

Week 1
Yarra to beat Gryphs
Ivanhoe to beat UHS

Week 2
PA to beat Yarra
Ivanhoe to beat Gryphs

Week 3
Yarra to beat Ivanhoe

Week 4
PA to beat Yarra

The only real interest this season is can Ivanhoe or Monash beat Yarra for promotion?

How are the Gryphs going to get 3rd? Would have to beat Yarra this week.

Well the Hoes only just beat West Brunny last time they played (at home) and Haysey did his hammy in the second 1/4. So, I would think alot of work to be done yet as we play them at their home ground - and avoiding relegation is a big incentive for them.

The hoes then have PA's for the last game of the year - at home - but the standout team of they year gave us a touch up last time we played. So, it's very easy to see how we could lose 3rd place unless we are on our game.

Hopefully some more players back this week - fingers crossed. Would be great to see the Captain

Chump.

The real interest is in THE DROP not THE TOP...

For some Dee Three, but not everyone. If you are involved in the 'top' then it's still interesting :D

Hope you are well and I see still causing a little chatter every now and then.

Your old pal Chump.

P.s. Ange sends his love too :thumbsu:

Alan Foster 12 weeks. Must have been a seriously dirty hit. If you get a total of 18 weeks dont you get a life ban?

I assume that was in the twos. Was at the game. Didn't see the actual incident but there was a bit of an all in in teh last quarter and a Yarra bloke came off with a lump the size of a tennis ball on his cheek.

VAFA must be onto it then?

I'd imagine Powerhouse would be getting rid of him too. You wouldn't want that around your club. Both big penalties. No room for that rot in sport.

unless you're powerhouse. thuggery is just about the only thing they stand for as a club

Then why did Powerhouse ban a new a player this year, after 2 games when he showed that he was volatile and possibly violent on the field.

No he hadn't struck anyone but his behaviour was not what we would consider acceptable on a sports field.

So OI shutup

Does anyone have any light on what he did to earn 12 weeks? I doubt just a couple of punches in a melee would earn 12 weeks.

A private email indicates he got 4 for serious striking in 2008 as well - perhaps this slipped through to the HOUSEkeeper without notice - I am not bemused by this??

:rolleyes::footy::rolleyes:

Does this include you Sidey?
Charming! I am more interested in the top half of the division. I regard such attention to failure in footy as perverse. Got it??? Who delights in relegation struggles than one who's interest is perverse? Only a masochist would enjoy the drop. Unless one subscribes to some Ross Lyon philosophy.

Yes OI, shut up. Power House don't promote or accept thugs. Based on my understanding of his suspensions, Alan Foster is definitely not a thug. He does not go out with the mindset to intentionally harm opposition players.

As someone who has has some exposure to Foz's previous cases, if I recall correctly, 1 was retaliatory and yes there was contact. The other we were very aggrieved at the result as we believed that he was innocent - as we all know, the tribunal gets it wrong.

For the 12 week suspension, clearly his prior record has made the amount significantly larger. This is my understanding: There were 2 instances at more or less the same time. In both of these instances, Foz was facing the same way as the player he supposedly hit and Foz was in front of him (eyes in the back of his head). The first incident - imagine going for a lead and being harrassed, jumper held etc, so he threw his arm back as you see in the AFL from time to time. The second incident, imagine some guy running from behind at him to have a go with Foz stationary. Do you put your arm up to protect yourself - I'm guessing yes.

The main issue is that these incidents resulted in injuries - and yes, we don't want them. Foz was not out there with the mindset to belt blokes - far from it. Don't judge a bloke purely by what our ridiculous tribunal system throws at him.

Vege - what were the injuries?

Do you know if he is allowed to play again under this 15 week rule?

My understanding was a concussion for the 1st and a big egg on the side of the 2nd blokes face (no fractures) - although it might not be totally right to assume that Foz caused them.

Unless the club appeals, I believe that Foz needs to reapply to AFL Victoria if he wants to play in Australia again

Is this Foz guy short bald and angry? He's the only Powerhouse 2s player I recall who seemed to want to fight rather than play footy....
