Is this Foz guy short bald and angry? He's the only Powerhouse 2s player I recall who seemed to want to fight rather than play footy....

Anyway I think Fozzie is a very skilled senior player with captaincies and premiership to his name.
I think the bloke you are talking about can't kick, can't play only goes out to punch people. Has played for years and probably been reported as many times! In fact if you ask some of the guys he has played against for many years they will tell you just that.

And good on you for bringing shame to those who deserve it and don't play in the spirit of the game!

Anyway why the sad face? did you get hurt playing netball last night?

Big clash for the mountain men to stave off relegation and put some interest in the lower end of the table in their clash against Kew. If they can win this game, then only % will seperate them Hawthorn & West Brunswick, making the final round very interesting giving the top 5 will be settled if UHS defeat Powerhouse.

Regardless of other results, I think the dye is already cast for Mt Lilydale and Hawthorn.

Could be proved wrong but can't see Mt lilydale winning their last two and given Hawthorn's recent performances there doesn't seem to be too much resolve there.

Round 16 Preview

UHS over Kew by 28 Pts (The Bears and Wicks face D-Day and I suspect that the former will be planning their End of Seasons Trip, come Sunday. I can’t put my finger on the secret of the combine’s success, but perhaps the evenness of their team is the defining factor. No superstars, but good honest performers that were demonstrated by 11 individual goalkickers against the Gryphs. The Bears have been less than satisfactory of late and one cannot see them rectifying this in the short term).
Wicks over Hoes by 2 Pts (Elsternwick blew any chance they had of an upset over the ladder leaders last round in the second quarter with three goals nine. Having said this though, their form has been more than adequate and Justin Hunter is arguably in career best form. Added to the mix is a virtual Elimination Final and I feel they will find something. Will be no walk in the park though as the Hoes try to hold on to third place).
Yarra over West by 88 Pts (The Bushrangers may be tempted to rest a few as they cruise to the double chance. No one can seriously see the Pies doing any damage and they must hope that they don’t lose too much percentage to the Hawks. Damien Hooper to be amongst the home side’s best).
Prahran over the Rams by 83 Pts (A close associate of mine offered me good odds on Mt Lilydale booting fewer than two goals for the senior match. I devoured the $2.80 with great haste. The forecast wet conditions will only serve to accentuate the gap between first and twelfth. Cardinal Pell to be amongst the Four Blues finest.
Monash over Hawks by 16 Pts (I will give the Gryphs one more chance as they seek to redeem recent sins. If the home side have Lauletta available this may be a different story, but the likes of Cherian and Madden up forward should prove too much for the Hawks).
Falcons over the House by 6 Pts (I see this one as clear match of the day. ‘To the winners go the spoils’ may be the apt saying come Saturday night as the winner is likely to be safe from relegation. To the loser, comes more despair and angst. Like always, when I select Albert Park, I do so with trepidation, but they may just do enough with Cale Blizzard proving the difference).

Round 16 Review

5/6 (62/96 cumulative) was one of my best efforts of this rollercoaster season …
The finals composition is now settled save for a choke of ‘Normanistic’ proportions from Uni High, but they have steadied in recent weeks, so I do not expect this to occur. The Wicks bubble has burst and whilst they were right in the mix until three quarter time against the Hoes, they could not sustain that effort as the lads from Ivanhoe ran away with the game. It seems that Ivanhoe are playing their best football at the business end of the season and hence will be difficult to beat from hereon in. The Falcons look to be safe after a strong win against the House, but technically they can still be relegated so they will not be taking anything for granted. The Gryphons played their best football in a couple of months as they crushed the Hawks at Rathmines who are beginning to haemorrhage at the wrong end of the season. Yarra and Prahran hardly played their best football, but eased past their opposition when it counted. In fairness to the Rams, they gave their all to make it tough for the ladder leaders, but now face a Herculean task to avoid the drop. Speaking of the relegation battle, six wins and a decent percentage should be enough, but the final couple of rounds always throw up surprises, so I am no closer to picking that duo than I was a couple of weeks back.

Round 17 Preview

Wicks over Hawks by 41 Pts (There is likely to be an upset victory by one of the bottom four this round, but surely it cannot be this one. Elsternwick were disappointing last time out, but had no contribution from Justin Hunter and still remained competitive for much of the day. The Hawks are imploding and cannot kick or defend a score. Hawthorn will fight hard but will have to rely on defeating the House in the final round in order to avoid the drop).
PA over Albert Park by 45 Pts (The margin may be far greater, but the Falcons recent form has been most encouraging. However, the Four Blues have the uncanny ability to derail a side when they hit top gear – see Elsternwick R. 15 – and Albert Park may be on the receiving end. Christoforo to be back and boot at least a half D as the juggernaut rolls on).
Hoes over West by 6 Pts (I sense the real chance of an upset win as West need to win one of their remaining fixtures to avoid the drop. Ivanhoe play the press as well as anyone in the competition and will look to choke the Pies, but players such as Anthony Stewart and Anthony Gibson will toil hard for the home side. Ivanhoe have the double chance to secure if they win and I expect they will with Ben Plowman best afield).
UHS over the House by 7 Pts (I could easily just ditto the previous review with this one as the stakes are remarkably similar for the home sides. However, Uni High are playing far more consistently of late and will not want to give the Wicks a sniff of finals. The Powerhouse defence is solid enough, but Captain Kirk may force them to place Paul Edwards down back and this will dry up the home side’s ability to score. UHS for me, but it will not be easy).
YV over the Gryphons by 26 Pts (No doubt the Bushrangers will find it difficult to win at East Caulfield, but of all the games Monash have played this year, no one has destroyed them as easily as Yarra Valley. The strong bodies of Yeo and Britt up forward will prove too much and will force the Gryphs to play one loose in defence at a minimum. Unless Harry Madden carve a hole in the visitors’ defensive structures the Gryphs will fall short. I cannot see how anything will change if these two sides meet in the finals).
Kew over Mt Lilydale by 35 Pts (It’s been a disappointing month for the Bears, who were outsiders for the finals a few weeks back and now technically can be relegated. They are fortunate however, that they face the ‘Travelling Rams’ – sounds like a Swedish Death Metal band – who’s form on the road has been deplorable in 2011. One would expect Brazzale to give the scoreboard operators a workout and officially place Mt Lilydale in D4 section for 2012).

Good luck to all

Round 17.

Monash Gyphons vs Yarra Valley
Elsternwick vs Hawthorn
West Brunswick vs Ivanhoe
Power House vs UHS-VU
Prahran vs Albert Park
Kew vs Mt Lilydale

Progressive 62 from 90.

Yarra Valley vs West Brunswick - 69 points.
Ivanhoe vs Elsternwick - 14 points.
Mt Lilydale vs Prahran Assumption - 76 points.
Albert Park vs Power House - 4 points.
Hawthorn vs Monash Gryphons - 34 points.
UHS-VU vs Kew - 22 points.

Progressive 67 from 96.

5 out of 6 for me also Quasi. With a couple of games to go think I have you covered. Straight to the tips...

Monash Gryphons vs Yarra Valley - 22 points. Just can't see the Gryphs getting up here. They might be a chance if YV start to rest a few blokes for finals but how much does that really happen at our level. Gryphs will want the chance at 3rd spot and double chance but wont happen.

Elsternwick vs Hawthorn - 44 points. Hawthorn will be relegated. Elsternwick will not make finals. The Hawks have been disappointing and it's been reflected off the ground as well with very few supporters coming down to watch them. The Wicks I have seen are a very good team, but there is something amiss with the games they have dropped this year.

West Brunswick vs Ivanhoe - 34 points. The hoes are looking good at the right time of year and will account for the Pies easily. Hoes to secure 3rd spot. After a good start to the season the Pies will be lucky not to be relegated but will stay up... just.

Power House vs UHS-VU - 21 points. Match of the round. This is about the most interesting game this round. UHS are no certainties and if they drop this game the Wicks are back in the hunt. They should still win this game and hold on to 5th spot. Power House were fancied pre-season but failed to live up to the hype. How much has really changed since last season? Looks like a very familiar line up. Has the comp improved that much?

Prahran Assumption
vs Albert Park - 56 points. I am always pretty impressed when a team can go through a season undefeated. I can't see anyone beating the Blues and wish them the best as they hope to climb the grades. You're never a certainty to win a GF but I will be greatly surprised if they don't make it.

Kew vs Mt Lilydale - 12 points. Kew had a good spurt there for awhile but couldn't keep it going. Could it have anything to do with going for another 2's premiership tilt? Given their ressies are just out of the 5 I think this will be a focus for the last couple of rounds, so Mt Lilydale might be in with a chance. The Rams are another team with very little support this year so they will be looking forward to D4 where they can recruit again for another finals chance.

Haha, that must have taken you a while to come up with, but pure genius!! However, I think this is the sad face: :( And this is asking a question:
Can you see the difference???

Good effort by the Hoes to get third.

West Brunny were a bit stiff not to get the points and they again blew a few chances when it counted. Having said that, I still suspect Hawthorn to join Mt Lilydale in the drop. Big game the Hawks v House this week.

The Hawks will stay up. Injuries have killed us this year but to say that there are problems off the field is utter rubbish.

If the Hawks win this week against Power House you will stay up. But I wont be tipping them.

I never said there were problems off the field in a traditional sense. As far as I know you may doing quite well. I was referring to games I have seen, which have had very little supporters. This is vastly different to the Hawks I have seen in previous years which usually has a quite few mongys hurling abuse over the fence. I think has a direct correlation to the amount of games you have won.

Call me Stupid. But.
Can Elsternwick still make the 5.
They are probably about 130 points behind UH.
Considering they could beat Mt Lilly by that sort of margin.
And UH could loose to a West Brunny side that must win to definitely avoid relegation. I think its still game on..
Im tipping a bunch of nervous Monash players waiting for the results to come through on Saturday evening..

Monash definitely would not want to play Elsternwick in the first round of th finals

Given that the game is at Mt Lilydale and even disregarding their improved form, low scores have been the norm on the heavy ground making a huge Elsternwick win unlikely!

Sounds like you have had a large bet on the Wicks to make the finals Johnny?

Forget it. The five is set.
