Rumours suggest that Elsternwick and Power House had NO ONE training last night as both teams massive IRISH contingents were out at Federation Square and the Limerick Arms celebrating the life of the great Jim Stynes...

Massive numbers at the moment on the track at Richmond Centrals but Albert Park (The Nomads) are still trying to find somewhere to train until their oval is ready...in 2035!

I drove past Elsty Park No.2 last night and saw at least 3 people there

Might not be the case tonight with half the club off to the G to support the mighty tiges!

Elsternwick and Powder House were both at the Irsish Embassy trying to arrange more Irish imports to bolster their numbers.
Is there any chance of these clubs actually recruiting "a local" as opposed to focussing on the return from the bar takings with the healthy consumption of the Irish?
At present, their clash will be held around a poker table based on their current numbers.
Serious concern ongoing with lack of personnel.
Great to have the Irish around a club but cannot be the major core/element of new numbers and playing stocks for clubs. The occasional player may "cut the mustard", howver, if there is a reliance on them, you are deluded as to future success.
To be sure, to be sure!!

Based on last night's insipid performanace by the meek Tigers after all the pre-season hype and false promises (as per usual), Richmond Centrals players might be a chance to be drafted into the senior AFL Tigers line up.
Fancy extending a coach's contract BEFORE he has actually achieved anything!
I need to get Hardwick's manager to look after my business affairs. What a star!

UHS played Lalor yesterday. Reserves competitive. Seniors struggled = Lalor FForward kicked a lazy 14 in between cigs. Nearly slotted a major myself.
Nice bunch of people Lalor has assembled in their seconds - most would be guilty of "War Crimes!"

Puff Puff

Aquinas and Kew had a good hit out in sunny conditions. Was a shame the Kew players couldn't come in for a beer after the game though.....

Ivanhoe V Park Orchards:

The 1's got rolled by 3 points in a close one that I hear was of reasonable standard and a good hit out. The 1's tried a few different players this week as they had 9 not available who are in our best 18. So, encouraging signs of improved depth - hopefully.

The 2's and Under 19's won both their games buy 10+ goals and it was good to see a few old heads back and confirm they will be playing in 2012 - along with a few of our TAC lads have a run around.

Mitch FC was a stand out - again!!

Chump.

Can't agree on the standard chump but then again it was a praccy game in difficult conditions.

Not much to be taken from the game. We were comfortably the better side until the last quarter; quite a few of our boys lack fitness but with 4 of the boys doing the tough mudder, you'd think that'd help when they return.

I'd say we'd have a good best 30 this year.

Fair enough Wamba - I will take your word for it then as you have the best eye for footy talent in D3 Ammos!!

Hope to get down and have a look soon ...... and a waddle during the week to lose some kg's.

Good to hear Chump.

Speaking of talent, was impressed with the way no.85 went about his work for the Hoes (don't have a name as yet).

Didn't do a heap but the way he attacked the ball a couple of times shows he may have the heart for the contest.

Adam Horton also impressed with his attack and work rate. I expect him to become one of our main men this year!

Heard the Grand Prix hosts Power House had a hard fought win against Caulfield (SFL) in their practice match on the weekend.
Lots of senior players missing including Edwards - so a win is a win.

where was number 85 playing? BP? or half forward... trying to work out who it was for yah

RC had a win over St Marys (NFL)

Not much to report about the game... It was low scoring. The wind wasn't helping the goal kickers.

not sure where you got that from?? Though I was pretty good at eating the after match pizza's and I won the raffle last week, so off field form is good!

Nothing too much to be excited about on the weekend, but good to get another hit out under the belt and see a few more of the young fella's in action. We literally had no ruckman so was tough yards for the boys in the middle trying win a clearance.

I think the club has more depth this year than my 1st 2 season's, so hopefully that will really help out in the middle and end of season once injuries/lack of heart/mid year tropical getaways start to kick in.

Interested to know how many clubs share their ground with a cricket club and how they go about pre season training?
What sort of effect do you think it has on teams and their preparation for the season?

train on the ground but not on the wicket area (it's usually roped off)

We train out the back of the oval for the majority of the preseason. It is annoying as we have to wear runners and are constantly slipping and sliding everywhere!

What club is this for? Sounds fairly mediocre. Sliding everywhere in summer sounds like a bit of a stretch though! How long until you're back on your ground with boots?
Seems like a few clubs face issues like this. Could be council issues or could also be money issues.
Perhaps if the VAFA allowed clubs to sell alcohol at games like every other football league people would actually turn up and support the league?
From my experience no more than say 30-40 people would watch any game, excluding finals, in our lowly divisions.
