My point
A lot on De La there, didn't know they had suddenly dropped 5 tiers to Div 3?

Don't be so paranoid Richo. Purely mentioned De La to make a point as it directly related to the conversation. Can you not mention any other team in Vic because they are not in D3?

Good point about the fitness required for a small ground. I think that unusually small or big grounds offer and advantage to the home team. All things considered equal.

Geez, looks like everyone has gone to sleep on this thread. Knock, knock, anyone there ?

South Mornington vs UHS-VU
Richmond vs Aquinas
Albert Park vs Old Westbourne
Power House vs Kew
Elsternwick vs St Francis Xavier
Swinbourne Uni vs La Trobe Uni

UHS-VU will pump South Mornington
Richmond will knock off Aquinas in a thriller
Albert Park by 40 against OW
Kew to combat with a resurgent Powerhouse, should win comfortably though
Elsternwick to kick away in the second half
Swinny by a kick.

Happy footballing lads!

Lid is still firmly on Richo! RC have only played one of the top four and lost. I think Aquinas is going to put the lid back on though, if it was ever off.

Popped down to Elsternwick park Satdy to see what I thought would be a good game.

Are Elsternwick the real deal this year or are SFX just off the pace?

Also, have Elsternwick stepped up to take the title of D3's bottleshop workers since Yarra Valley's departure? What a ridiculous look. Discuss.

Haha I actually don't mind the look, I am just happy that bigwaz let's me wear my chinos.

Bottleshop workers... Gold.

Must have been a thriller down at St James? That makes 3 of 5 games swinburne have played that were within a goal... So they're two kicks off being 5-0?

Round 6

Power house @ Aquinas - Aquinas have dropped off... back to back 100 point losses.
La Trobe @ UHS-VU - La Trobe are handy... but not quite there.
RC @ SM - RC haven't lost down at Mornington for a long while, but they always beat us at KB... go figure.
Kew @ Elsternwick - What happens when both teams are wearing slacks? Who has the advantage? Home team.
Swinburne @ AP - Swinburne were two goals from the #1 spot.
SFX @ OW - SFX seems to have lost a lot of depth this year.

Can someone please explain why teams in the lower divisions feel that wearing slacks to the game makes them more professional?

So lower divisions should not bother training.......should not even try to win games, just because its a lower dividion?

Pull your head in
All the more reason to train/try to win. Can't see how looking like a knob helps though?
Good luck on the weekend. What number do you wear for Elsternwick or Kew?

Who gives a shit if a club wants to wear slacks or not? Good on them if they want to, good on them if they prefer chinos or trackies.
What division or league they are in is completely irrelevant, if blokes in Premier A wore slacks people are gonna say they look like tossers.
Maybe we should only buy boots that are less than $100 because we play in such a poor standard?

"You must commit to this season like you would to a new job. Work hard, commit to training, be punctual and you will ultimately achieve success as a team. We are only as strong as our weakest link." Etc... This kind of message is probably more appropriate in the lower levels than it is in A Grade. It has the potential to have more of an impact, as most of the other clubs won't be as professional. However... If everyone started rocking up in slacks, then it would have no effect. Remember when pre-season training started in January, rather than November?

Honestly one of dumbest statements I've heard in my lifetime. How does money or grade have anything to do with a football club wanting to present themselves professionally
Because it's basically a small step up from social footy. I don't see the point.
How does 'looking' professional help with kicking the footy during half time of the reserves? How does it have any impact on preparation? How does what you wear to the game positively effect your mindset when travelling or arriving at the ground?
You can proudly represent your club without looking like a flog.

What a ridiculous response. I actually support a team in the lower divisions, a division lower than this one actually. It wasn't an insult, but a fact. Am I missing something or is D3 not a lower division anymore??
Being a professional club has nothing to do with wearing pants, if it creates buy-in then great.
Maybe I should rephrase my question, why do clubs feel need to wear pants to show buy-in? Surely, turning up to training every night, on time to games and team meeetings, following team instructions, putting the team ahead of your own ego are all better forms of buy-in than wearing slacks and dress shoes to the game.
And, the reason you don't see teams in the higher grades doing this is because its a wank and doesn't make an ounce of difference.

Something tells me you don't support/play for any football team based on your opinions. Maybe teams feel more unified rocking up in the same dress code, even if it does include slacks. You clearly wouldn't know #muppet
