Do we need May and why, or not

My biggest concern about May is his age. He will be 27 in January next year. How many years can we reasonably expect from him? Is that return worth spending a likely first rounder on him?

I'm more concerned with the trade cost. I simply hate trading out of the 1st round of the draft every year.

May and Why?

Probably should just concentrate on one of them, TBH.

May's done more to date so we should just focus on him, IMO.

Cox is 27 as well, i highly doubt age will be an issue, we are at the stage to be contending so makes sense to get a player at their peak

Cox was a 22-23 year old project player we got for nothing who is yet to find his peak IMHO so not sure he's relevant in a discussion on cost benefits.

I don't care whether it's top 10 or not, it's still a 1st round pick.

If a player is worth trading for and will improve your team, then you trade for him.

Its nice romance to keep first round picks but we have built our team a number of ways and will continue to do so...........first round picks, later picks, traded players, free agents, father sons, mature age recruits and Cat B rookies.

"I dont want the club to trade a first round because we have done that a few times recently" is not really an argument.

I'm not sure what value May should be at but I certainly believe he fits a need at the club.

I'm not sure where you're trying to take this but I reiterate my opening statement in this discussion, my biggest concern with getting May is the trade cost. It's not that hard, I'm not saying don't trade for him, I'm not saying don't use our 1st although my preference is to take that to the draft. I'm just not convinced May is worth our 1st, I certainly don't see that as some are suggesting he's worth more than that, and I certainly don't think he's worth the sort of money being suggested by some here.

On May, the cost right now in draft pick will be high and even a player,
He is a good player with brain explosions from time to time, but not yet elite.
Like lynch not overly fussed about him
May, Quaynor and Kelly and a smokie from this trade/draft period would be above a pass grade you would think, as long as we retain Moore.

Yep he eats twisties and I sink beers and we slag off the scumps.
He needs a spa with a young Magpie lady- take twisties to a whole new level

We may run the risk of being forced to use our first rounder on Quaynor if we keep it so wouldn't it make sense to trade it first?

Im saying that if the club thinks hes worth our first, then hes worth our first. Especially as its not a top ten pick, which was my original comment.

Ideally we could bundle up Wills Fasolo or Oxley with a third but thats not how it works.

Suns won't trade May for only one late first round pick. They'll want multiple picks or a first and decent player.

Which was my point about trade cost. I've said elsewhere that I could live with trading our 1st but I doubt that gets the job done and I'm not convinced he's worth it.

We'll get May and we'll give up a bit for him. We're a top 4 side RIGHT NOW and a key defender could be the thing we need to nab a flag. It's our ONLY deficiency.

But it's a deficiency now due to injury, not because we don't have options on the list. Acquiring May during the trade period won't alter that.
