Do we need May and why, or not

Eh? Bad time to trade them out? We should have deleted them both last year, contract or no contract. They will be delisted in a week or two anyway, so if we can use them in any deals we definitely should.
Yes I know this is the common opinion which is why I said they are underrated.

Barrett's story was interesting especially with the camera switching to Ed as May was being discussed. Ed's expression implied he knew nothing, but really knew everything. There was also something about Ed going ballistic at Barrett last week after one of his stories. I didn't see it, but Ed suggested it was a legal matter. Interesting, so can anybody remember the story Barrett broke last week? Was it the May story?

We desperately need May and should pay whatever it takes.

We have a young side but very few decent key position players. Especially if Moore leaves.

We need him.

Moore and Reid are unreliable

Sharenberg and dunn are long term injury

Dunn started light running. By Christmas to January, he will be at nearly full training. Will be ready

As for Shazza, different proposition ofcourse, but he will be at full training around late Feb/March.

As I said in the other thread:

Absolutely no way May gets his contract torn up so he can become a free agent.

Possibly one of the stupidest thing thing I have ever heard a journo say.

Can’t help but think that Eddy is behind that proposal. What a great outcome that would be for us. Eddy had a smirk on his face when asking that last night

Ok... dunn is 31 and sharenberg has had 3 knee Recos so I’m not banking on them

I think it is unlikely, but they are using Jared Brennan’s move from Brisbane to GC as precedence. Although they have already dismissed it, the AFL might allow it one more time if they feel it will help GC and then close any loophole beginning this year.

Highly doubt that the Suns will be allowed to rip up Mays contract and get FA compo, especially given they are already lining up for a pick for Lynch.

Regardless I'm starting to suspect Moore is already out the door and May will be the one to replace him. Not sure what I think about that but Moores injury history makes it a risk for whoever employs him in he future. On balance I'd rather keep Moore but as long as we have one of them our future looks pretty good. Dunn to the rookie list if neccessary.

Why not? AFL want to help May. May staying would be toxic for the club. Rather than wait a year, they get their compo early. Would be a great outcome for the Pies

Yes it would be a great outcome for the Pies. Partly why I think the AFL wont allow it.....it would open a Pandoras box for free agency. Power clubs will know they dont have to wait until the end of players contracts to pick them up for nothing if they allow this.

May can still be traded like all contracted players can be traded. Like I said I think we are into May because we know we will lose Moore. And theres your trade value. Wont cost any/much more than whatever we get from the Swans.

A loophole like that could mean GC don’t require a priority pick, which would be a nice way of giving them assistance without also benefiting Carlton.

I would be very surprised if the afl will let Gold Coast and May cancel the contract, for us to get May. For a Different club probably would.

Do you think the AFL likes Collingwood so much they would gift us one of the top 5 fullbacks in the league?
No but I think the GC is a priority. What happens if we just offer our first (20s pick) and a player? Would they be happy with that? Hawks may be in a similar position

Ugh hawthorn go away!

If we did miss out on him to the Hawks:

- Moore is a must re-sign (even if we have to pay a bit extra); and
- I'd seriously contemplate bringing in Roughy (who might get squeezed out) for a couple of years to compliment our fwd set up and provide great leadership whilst we are in the window (great mates with Pendles - Mihocek could go back).

Moore, Rough (on the cheap), Will Kelly as a FS and hopefully Dunny back early next year; the KP stocks don't look all that bad.
