Someone should tell Jamarra and Naughton that they don't always have to lead to the pockets, they are allowed to lead into the corridor too

I think its a symptom of how bad we have defended the last couple of seasons. We are terrified of turning it over because we expect our opponent to go end-to-end. Our poor defence has made us extremely risk-averse with our ball movement around the ground and into our own F50.

Who's the fwds coach? Happens far too often. Splitting, based on where they're positioned when the ball is entering would create chaos for the opposition and space for us.

WC lost inside 50s 57-40 v Port, and 67-44 v GWS. 51-51 v the dogs today.

Im not sure if that’s a great defensive effort, or a poor midfield/clearance effort, or a bit of both. But it’s a significant difference.

Next week will be interesting. Geelong are not a top four team, but also likely not a bottom four team. Neutral ground, prime time, let’s see how good each team is.

Jesus didn’t die and come back to life so we would have to listen to Derm and Kelli commentate the same game.

Good performance, not reading into too much but will never feel disappointed by a 76 point win no matter the opposition.
Exactly. The alternative was last year's result Imagine if that happened again.

Had game on mute due to family lunch but can anyone enlighten me as to what Brereton said?
Just think of Donald Trump as an AFL commentator.
He was an irritating, opinionated loudmouth for virtually most of the game.
His worst word salad was directed at young Sanders, suggesting he was selfish.

Backline has to get the chocolates. Superb effort from all of them. Our midfield was beaten and forward line was a bit meh.

Bont rested up forward and Libba getting subbed off, not surprising we lost clearances. Treloar (best on) did his bit for sure. Did not receive a whole lot of assistance. Not sure if Macrae is suited to what we're trying to do.

Bailey Williams looks much more at home in the backline proper than he does on the wing. His best game in yonks. Bit of a dilemma as the same applies to Ed.

Tim once again looked great around the ground yet was limp against Williams. His early form not exactly justifying the contract demands - at least as the main ruck. Would be a gun forward/ruck as he was most of 2021 (When the team played best). Hopefully if he does sign up we reduce his ruck minutes and increase Darcy's as the next couple of seasons progress. Anyway...

Naughts and Marra both looked great up the ground. 13 score involvements pretty nuts for Naughts. But we really need to get their goals ticking up, considering what Naughts gets paid and what Marra wants to be paid. Partly on them missing some shots they should be nailing, but we also don't make it easy for them. Need to get them more reasonable shots on goal instead of high difficulty shots that they often take/the opposition are happier to give up.

Last couple of weeks have been good to forget about the Dees game (and recover %). Definite uptick in how we're trying to play - much faster. Has led to some turnovers but glad to see them trying to move it quickly. Much more entertaining to watch than the last few years of Bevo ball.

Interesting there is a push for west coast to get draft help next year. hopefully they do and get pick 2 as a priority and then on trade that for English if he wants to leave and something else. Cant rely on compensation from the AFL for a fair deal on english

I was commenting to my mates on how much I enjoy Dunstall’s commentary the other day. Derm has to be the polar opposite. STFU ABOUT EVERY UMPIRING DECISION YOU FLOG. It’s all he talks about. And it’s predictable as your boomer relative telling you that you should’ve gone to Clark Rubber when you buy a pool noodle. I don’t want to hear it.

Weirdly focused on Sanders being "selfish" at u18s
Who cares.
People post here and abuse opposition players all the time.
Call opposition teams childish names like norf or whorethorn.
If supporters want our players and coaches to toughen up, we should probably stop sooking about commentators so much.

Did you listen to the broadcast?

They need to just stop the priority picks full stop but particularly here. In an 18 team competition the Eagles won the flag only 6 years ago. Other clubs will be rightfully annoyed if they get assistance now.

It will never happen, but I’d like the draft to just be pick #1 to 18th, pick #2 to 18th on a 2-year combined ladder, pick #3 to 17th, … pick #35 to the premier, pick #36 to 1st on a 2-year ladder. Just make being shit for consecutive years part of the system and stop the ad-hoc draft assistance.
