Dogs land a beauty in Ugle-Hagan - but can they keep him?

Dogs are on top of the ladder while still having a lot of young talent and plenty of upside from guys like Jamarra, Weightman, Smith and Sam Darcy in a few months time 😎 Plus most of the sides key movers still have years left. Some bottom sides are more reliant on old players than the Dogs

the guys going to be a star. He has a lot of traits. He should be playing for Adelaide though if we didn't have the most unfair draft rules in the history of sports. If the dogs don't win multiple flags with this afl gift then they've fallen short.

Gifts don't guarantee anything. Some sides in the past have been gifted top picks for years and it took them nowhere

  • Roos says it's odd for the Bulldogs to select a player out of form
  • Bulldogs select that player
  • Player gets 7 touches at 50% eefficiency
Bevo might need to try another angle on that one lol

Bevo coaching the team at the top of the ladder probably doesn't need to be given selection advice from a consultant at a team 18th on the ladder.

Just find it ironic that so many North posters are gleefully inferring Jamarra wasn't picked because of racism, but an employee from their club seemingly wouldn't have picked the player at all.

They got lucky with one falling to them by chance.

Regardless, I think he'll be a star. His movement and skills are really good. I think he's more promising overhead than someone like Franklin was too.

Could be a superstar if all tracks well, but obviously a long way to go.

He's a much better mark than Franklin. Easily.

Then again, Franklin is a freak of an athlete and I doubt he'll ever get to Franklin's level.

Looks a beautiful mover though and will be a gun player. I dont think he'll be a generational player though.

Do you seriously not know that Paul Roos is a premiership coach??

Does that include the draft rules where we reward teams for being terrible? Or do you only have problems with decent teams getting top draft picks that they give up almost of all their draft capital for?

Which top 4 team has been gifted back to back pick 1's?

None, including the Dogs. But many players picked in the past very early with picks given to them outside the normal draft order have been mediocre and their teams have failed to make an impression. And they were gifts that didn't involve losing other picks as compensation. The Dogs are very lucky to get Darcy and Ugle-Hagan, but nothing is guaranteed 🤷‍♂️

Do you seriously not know that Luke Beveridge is a premiership coach?

This thread is largely based on a stupid premise that Jamarra wasn't getting picked because of his race, yet someone from North wouldn't have picked him at all. I assume no one is suggesting that Roos comments weren't also based on race? Shows how ridiculous the whole premise is.

Paul Roos is the only one I have heard. Clubs don’t comment on other clubs selection policies. Roos deserved his whack and I am sure he won’t comment again in the future.
Do you think he'll be too scared of Bevo to do it again?

I was wondering when you will turn up

Maybe instead of being scared of Bevo he'll just be more professional in the future 🤔

While you descend into Ancient History consider
Carlton 5 - Bulldogs 1 Wooden Spoons This Millenium
Carlton 3 - Bulldogs 8 Finals wins This Millenium
Carlton 0 - Bulldogs 1 Flag wins This Millenium.

Can you even remember Carlton winning one of those finals.
How many coaches have you sacked? More than you have won finals.

Now in the words of Jack Elliott "that is tragic history" and it is all recent.
Nice numbers. Only one stat that counts...

16 > 2. Just own it.

Buddy's tank is better. His running capacity is severely underrated simply because Buddy's highlights package is so good.
Buddy also benefited from having attention split between him and Roughy for many years. JUH and Naughton will really benefit each other in 2 years time when both are impossible matchups. Scary to think about.

• Player is on pace for his 5th consecutive game since Roos’ comment. And looks best 22 heading into a finals series where team sits on top of the ladder.

• since players debut he’s kicked the most goals of any Bulldogs player. Including Naughton, English, Bruce and Bont.
