Only 5 weeks ago we were lauded as unbeatable. Its taken one plan to stop us that the coaches with half a brain are copying and we've lost 3 from 5. Even Brisbane troubled us in the first quarter with the same plan.

Don that has to tell you something is wrong.

Sounds awfully similar to previous years...

If Don doesn't change his career will not extend past 2018 so it's up to him.

Roo isnt stupid, he says what is wrong on MMM but he has to be diplomatic. However, he won't just sit back watching us make the same mistakes, even if we make the finals in the next 2 years, if we bomb out Don will be gone.

Then go throw a shit load at Clarkson.

So it's really up to you Don.
Roo says what he thinks on Monday, is reeled back in by the Club by Tuesday. Happened with the Sydney semi loss ("we have to strengthen our midfield") and it happened this week.

Lets face it, the whole reason Roo is even there is because he got sick of us stinking it up.

15 years on and we have the same club, same board, same failings

We also have different coaches and different players; we're not even subordinate to the sanfl

But the results and culture are the same, are we sure pyke is the problem?
Fish....rot....head

I don't want consistency. I want continuous improvement and innovation.

Kodak wanted to be consistent. Apple strived for innovation.

Guess which company produces the most photos.
Very true, watching him made me think that he is very systematic in the way he thinks. But football is not just system but is also made up of emotion, creativity, spotaneity and risk taking which he as a person is not. This is not his fault, that is how he is wired. I guess what i'm saying is that I want a coach who is more luke beveridge, less neil craig. A coach who will not hesitate in dropping a player if the team benefits. A coach who doesnt give a **** other than winning. This is the leader we deserve and the leader pyke must become if he is to help the club break its drought.

And here we are still blaming everything else after all these years

When was last time you heard fagan mention elite standards? All the piss n wind has been sucked out of him
We've gone from "elite standards" to "structure and execution".

When you put those two phrases side by side, you can plainly see the problem.

Bec Goddard speaks very well. No bs, just tells it how it is. Something some modern day coaches should take on board.

Yeah, was actually terrified when he said in that interview earlier this year that we no longer needed to review our football department and he defended the culture of internal appointments.

Pods for milburn, burton for noble and voila! Best footy department in the land.

I'm still in the "Don's the man camp" for the moment anyway. I'm not so sure that we've quite got the cattle to get the job done. At the beginning of the year after our non-existent recruiting period we all knew that the MF would be our Achilles heel. After the 1st 6 weeks it looked like we'd overcome that deficiency. Despite our 3 losses I still think we've made some strides in that area. "Organic growth" (which we all know was just a term for we've stuffed up the trading period) has been marginally successful but was never going to be the cornerstone of our premiership team. WE NEED A "BIG FISH". We may just jag a flag this year, you never know??? If there's 1 bit of truth that he said it's that the competition is very even this year. We just need to keep winning the games we can even if it means we get the "flat track bully" tag by beating up on the minnows. % will be very important at the end of the year as it always is. I still think the premiership will be decided on injuries, who plays who and where.
However it plays out this year the club had better move heaven and earth to secure an A grade inside mid for next year or at least 2 B+ ones minimum.
Overall I have not lost faith in the Don yet but the club needs to help him out by getting those players we need.

Im happy with Don to say what he thinks, Beveridge does the same as does clarko, as for people complaining about assistant coaches I bet without looking it up people couldnt tell me who the Bulldogs assistants even were and hawthorns over their glory days changed all the time as they managed to move around. Pyke seems head strong and looking at the succesful coaches that is what we need, his football knowledge will be tested but he isnt a long way of the pace in his first year and a half
