Giles + 16, or Giles + 21 for 16, is a like for like player and the high pick that they want. If Giles is willing to move and they still say no then we walk away and tell them that Ryder will activate the clause. They either come to the party and do the trade or we get Ryder for nothing.

The way I see this trade scenario panning out, There's only so long our recruiting staff will allow for "pick 16 - star player" negotiating with Essendon. It's proving very unrealistic and delusional that any of our boys will and up there especially with what they're asking. I can soon see us leaving this with Paddy to prove his breach as a final straw thing. This can get ugly which wouldn't be good for them.

16 seems about right to me. Surely they're not expecting full value given their indiscretions that could cost Ryder 6 months on the sidelines. Ordinarily I'd guess he'd be worth around the 10 mark. If they don't accept your first rounder, I hope he walks and they get sfa.
