Don’t know if this has been canvassed, and it’s a few years early, but how is the general bye going to work when the 19th team arrives?
If you are a finals team there is a chance you will have a two round bye.
Can’t believe that’s a good thing. 16/17 days without playing?
When does the 19th team arise? I am not one for thinking too far ahead of event until it's about to happen, which is when I'll be be removing my thinking cap from the bottom drawer and place it on my head to contemplate the ramifications of it all to the competition in general. Until then it's just an empty proposition that may never come to fruition.

Don’t know about y’all but my childhood PTSD from watching Collingwood repeatedly get mauled by Brisbane in the early 2000s is starting to flare up again. I’ll be barracking for whoever’s playing against them.

Father’s Day card from my youngest. Note the writing on the central character’s head. This is my proudest moment as a father and as a human being.

You have done a lot right. There is much to be proud of.

I like your pink wings and flares.

Quote of the year from Darcy Moore in the Age yesterday....

‘‘It’s pretty special when they jump on our backs and bring us home,’’

It probably embodies the whole collingwood experience for me. I picture someone running down the straight of the 100 metres, carrying 100,000 people on their back...

Excellent point.

Not so much childhood for me. I was 18 and 19 in our back to back losses. But total PTSD.
I even watched 2002 again last week and it was so upsetting still. They had such a crack.
Brisbane concern me most of all remaining teams. I am desperate for Port to upset them! Then again, if we win, they lose, they will win their semi at the Gabba you’d think, then go on to play us in a prelim. At least it would be at the G. Never get to play them in the home and away season at the G.

Highly concerning is the reporting around Tim Membrey.

Mental health is a serious epidemic at the moment in our society, and for young fellas it can be extremely tough to speak up about and reach out to find support, due to the ongoing stigma surrounding it and societal pressure to be alright all the time.

One thing I've learnt myself as a younger bloke finding my way through this sometimes rough and bumpy world is that you never, ever regret speaking up and reaching out for help when you aren't okay. And you also never regret looking out for the people that you care about that may not be. And that doesn't just for apply for young men, that applies to everyone.

As you go about your days next week, don't hesitate to ask your mates or family if they're okay if you're worried about them, or speak up and reach out to someone you trust if you're not. Wishing Tim a speedy recovery and hope he gets the support he needs.

Well said young fella. Us older fellas should do the same. Hopefully Tim gets through this.

People should never feel there’s no other options for them. It’s such a sad thing when people suffer in silence.

I had worried that it was some sort of self harm from Tim Membrey. Seems that’s the likely thing.

Hope he gets better.

So it’s grand final week. And we are all looking for omens.
Well I drove down to Melbourne yesterday, then back again today.
I saw lots of dead kangaroos on the road. Definitely a sign.
Unfortunately I also saw several dead magpies, but not one dead Lion.
Is this an omen?
Both in 1990 and in 2010 I had the misfortune of hitting a magpie and killing them. But in 2018, same scenario, driving along and a magpie flies into my path. This time I managed to swerve and although I clipped it, I did not mortally wound the magpie. Make of that what you will but this week, if I see an opportunity to make a sacrifice I'll be thinking long and hard about it.

Was searching for my Collingwood flag to put up at home when I came across my old magpie jewellery box with Pies social club medallions.

Didn’t find the flag.

Now trying to think of something to do with the medallions, although they are heavy. Make them into a necklace, or bracelet? If I was 12 I could sew them onto my duffle coat.

Suggestions welcome (be nice).
