JUH couldn’t ask for more at this point. Really good.

Back up for English would give us an added dimension up forward.
This not maning the mark is just ridiculous. It gives them deep entries against a week key position defence. It’s utter bullsh1t.
Didn‘t think Dunkley was all that flash last year and tonight didn’t notice him win a single clearance in the middle.

As last year showed, you can’t lose 3 in a row and make top 4. Do or die next week.
Agree with a lot in this post.

We aren’t beating many teams with whatever that was. Hopefully we see an uptick next week.

Should of left that for JUH
Yep. You just knew he’d miss it. I don’t want to bag him too much but in all seriousness I can’t see anyone paying big $ for him with his kicking. It wasn’t even just those misses - his kicking inside 50 a few times was really costly.

I think we have worms as we are dragging our arses along the ground ... we are in serious trouble and need to see a vet urgently!

Not a bad second half when we turned up the heat, but our second quarter was terrible.

Losing all those one on ones and in the centre.

Losing the centre bounces gave us no chance. When we got close they continued to get the clearances.

Amen.

Had a few howler moments defending Hewitt and Cripps too.

I love him and he did do better in the second half but he wants $$$, we shouldn't pay it.

The same players still have the same goalkicking issues they have had for years. You wouldn't want any of Naughton, Hunter or Dunkley kicking for your life.
Weightman, Williams & Dale seem to have lost all confidence, while Gardner & Cordy are just shit.
Loved Libbas game, Treloar was terrific, Macrae got a heap of it & I thought JUH & English were good.
Not all is lost, we played poorly & only lost by 12 against a side that will play finals this year. The midfield needs to be much more accountable defensively though otherwise our inadequate KPDs are just going to get exposed & continually leak goals.

Any chance that we can come up with a strategy for containing the games big mids as they stroll away from centre bounces?

Its seems to be a bit of a recurring issue.

Our centre square setups are dysfunctionally shambolic at best. Sieve like the rest of the time.

After tonight I'm thinking that Naughton might have to go back. He has no goalkicking routine and it's a surprise if he actually kicks the goal. Maybe we have to accept that he is a defender. Hope I'm wrong but he's never going to go close to winning the league goalkicking despite supposedly being a dominant forward. He can take five inside fifty marks and not look like kicking a goal.

Our game started on the half back flank for most of the night

I don’t think anyone can blame English across the first two rounds. He’s playing really well.

Pretty much averaging 22 touches, 6 clearances and 20 hit outs across the first two games. If we were told that in November last year we’d be stoked.

Desperately needs a ruck partner though, let him sit 30% of the game at FF. Sweet is needed as he can play 50% game time up forward and make up the rest in the ruck.

To me it’s such a bleedingly, frustratingly, astonishingly obvious solution.
