I don’t mean to be critical, but there’s not really any substance in that email hey?

Guessing they just had a date circled on the calendar for a president email and had to write something.

Maybe some people got something out of it that I didn’t.
Personally I think there's plenty in there, for starters the "Bye Bye Nobes" thread is going to have some really depressed posters right now.

really keen to hear what people expected the letter to say.

Like, jokes aside, did you actually think it would say "we've fired the coach/staff/whoever it is you pesonally are blaming all of this on?" Seriously? That's how you think we should go about this?

Or is there something else you think should be made public? Cause this isn't some secret letter, this is a public statement.

Because I'm guessing that the answer to this is either vague enough that its not practically different to the letter she wrote, or totally impractical/impossible.

marketing 101, how are going with all the Election advertising?
About to go into solitary confinement if I hear “there’s a hole in your budget, dear Labor” ONE MORE TIME!!

On its own a letter isn’t anything new but add that to the social media presence I think she’s trying to be accessible and accountable as much as possible.

It’s not too bad

The LNPs advertising has really missed the mark this cycle

A message from the club President Layabout TAO

Well this is pretty farked isn't it, nine rounds in and we sit second last. Let's all LOL together. I personally didn't see this coming. Bloody Rawling & Nobles crikey would love to give 'em both the arse but apparently we're still paying for our last two coaching **** ups.

The club is working on some new inititaves inishitives , things. Speaking of , the women's team is flying so much so that we've approached the AFL about letting a few of them play for the men on Saturday. We could do with an injection of class n toughness around the ball.

We've a fair few home games coming up which is ripper news for all those sadomasochist NMFC supporters out there.

And finally the journey is a well a journey and I hope you all join the journey with us. We're not really sure where the journey is taking us but we've everything crossed that we somehow pull a rabbit out of our hat or at least a forward who can mark the ball.

Oh well,

TAO

Who doesn't like working from home? lol

It would have definitely been bloody interesting if Sonja had posted her letter on North Melbourne's Bigfooty "Depression and Anxiety" conversation thread announcing:

"All hope is lost, we're doomed! DOOMED I TELL YOU"

Perhaps it was nice to read something other than all of the election garbage. Besides, at the moment our members and supporters need a bit of hope.
what in the letter gave you hope? The fact Nobes worked at Brisbane? Do you know what made Brisbane good, getting Neale in to their side. And as for GM of Footy, all we have seen him do is undermine the coach by leaking info about the apology.
The Alex Neal-Bullen comments regarding game plan should put this into perspective.
Yeah, I don' t buy that. Really, how complicated is the game plan? What takes a couple of years is for the young players to mature. We're starting to see it in Scott, and JHF wont take long. But its the likes of Perez and Taylor that need to start getting better. Plus we need our experienced guys playing well. And neither of those are happening.

Well you can be negative if that's what you believe, but I choose hope. We all look at the world differently.

Does the statement “8 first round draft picks 25 and under “ give you hope? That is, 1 pick for each year! Except, Bonar and Stevo are first round picks. And one can’t get on the park, and one is scared of the dark.

Crocker will remain as coach of the women’s team if that letter is anything to go by. Did allude to some new signings soon.

Probably wanted to get it out before the annihilation on Saturday to soften the blow and reinforce the club’s direction.

Other than that it was a sound letter.

I predicted a letter to the members would come out this week saying that the club was not happy with on field results. The only part of my prediction that I got wrong was that it was a day earlier than the exact time I predicted.

It was clearly the next step in sacking David Noble. There’s boxes you have to check as a club when sacking a coach, and this was the next step.

Behind close doors he has been told that the club will not accept being the worst team of all time. I don’t think he survives if we lose the next four by 60 points.

You can call me crazy, but I did tell everyone there’d be a letter to the members late this week.

The wording is incredibly soft, as the club is expecting David Noble to turn things around. But there’s enough there to support a sacking if Gold Coast and GWS also beat us by considerable margins. If his job was 100% safe, then instead of talking about David Noble’s commitment to the club there’d be a mention of the clubs commitment to David Noble.

After heavy losses to Melbourne and St Kilda, there’ll be something else put out in the media.

I'm not getting into a D&M over how you view world differently to me. I refer you to my previous post to perhaps best sum up your disposition ;): Click Here

Not a single accountable metric to be measured against mixed in with a significant amount of platitudes.

Bizarrely mentioning eight first round picks under 25, which most other teams in the league would have, a key highlight.

Edit: Freo for instance, who gave us an almighty slap down, have nine by my count.

A message from the club President Dr Sonja Hood

Nine rounds into the season, and we sit 17th on the ladder. We’ve watched one win, and eight losses, and to say we’ve all experienced a great deal of frustration is an understatement.

When I wrote to you earlier this year, I outlined the five areas of long-term focus for the Board: sustained on-field success in the men’s and women’s programs; improvements to our balance sheet; embedding ourselves in the Arden Precinct; our club culture; and our members.

Over the year, I’ll provide regular updates that address each of these areas as appropriate. Today, we’ll focus on football and members – the two reasons we exist as a club.

Returning to our on-field results – is this where we want to be? Clearly not – as a football club, our primary objective is to win, and that’s what we set out to do every week. But if I look at it in terms of the bigger journey we are on, there are some positives and a whole lot of learnings to take out.

When the club embarked on our aggressive list management program at the end of the 2020 season, we took the decision to hit the draft hard. As a result, we have taken 10 National Draft selections over the last two years, the equal most across the AFL clubs in that time. Our list now contains eight first-round draft picks aged 25 years or under.

This season we’ve seen the AFL debuts of Jason Horne-Francis, Miller Bergman and Paul Curtis, while Hugh Greenwood and Callum Coleman-Jones have played their first games for the club. We were thrilled to see Jason earn a Rising Star nomination in round seven.

David Noble and his coaching group are getting to work on building a physically and mentally healthy football program that will deliver sustained success.

Nobes and our GM of Football Performance Daniel McPherson have been through this process before at Brisbane and Melbourne respectively. They were there when things were tough, they saw success built from the ground up and know that it takes time. There’s nothing in football that will surprise of shake them. They are committed, confident and clear in where we are heading and how we’ll get there.

They are working hard to educate and implement a game style that is selfless, that will be exciting to watch for our supporters and is capable of being successful in finals. It is a work in progress.

In terms of our women’s program – there’s a lot I can’t say as the AFL is still finalising the details for the upcoming season, which we expect to start at the end of August. It’s safe to say, however, that we’ll have some exciting news on the list management front in the coming days and weeks. The coaching and playing leadership group, led by Darren Crocker and Emma Kearney, are plotting a huge pre-season. They’ll be ready whenever the League says we need to be ready.

And so, to our members. As I write this, we’ve passed 47,000 members – another new record for our club. It’s a phenomenal achievement, particularly considering both the on-field performance, and the lack of opportunity we’ve had to go to games in the first half of the season. The team has travelled to Brisbane, Sydney, Hobart (twice) and Perth and played only two home games so far in Melbourne.

We can’t thank our members enough for their support during this phase of the club’s on-field development. I’m constantly reminded about why I love this club so much when supporters reach out to me or other members of the Board to say they are in for the long haul. And that’s been backed up by those wonderful numbers.

I also know the players have missed playing in front of our members. We are all looking forward to the remainder of the season when we play nine of our last 13 games in Victoria (including one in Geelong), and two at our home away from home, Blundstone Arena in Hobart.

With the team being more visible in Melbourne these next few months, we’ll continue to strive to be a club that is accessible to its members and supporters, and for you to receive a personalised and happy experience every time you engage with us. Ben Amarfio and his team are working on a number of initiatives that will enhance our ongoing connection with our people. It’s in that spirit that we again invite our members and supporters to submit questions for Ben, Nobes and our GM of Football Talent, Brady Rawlings, to answer next week about the progress of the club so far this year.

Finally, to all of you – this journey is hard, but we are North Melbourne, and hard journeys are our bread and butter. I’m confident in our playing group and our coaches, our CEO, our Executive team and our administration, and above all else, in our members. We’ll get through this the way we always do – together.

Go Roos and see you at the footy.

Sonja
I find it kind of embarrassing that there are supporters that need this level of cuddles to be honest.

Also, Hobart can **** right off as can pretending that playing in front of Vic supporters is in any way a priority.
Double Also, ****ed if Geelong is a "Vic" game, they charge through the teeth for a game that is 90% built on my tax money. They can get stuffed too.

It's funny because the people who have responded well to the letter, for the most part, probably don't need the cuddles, whereas those who have responded aggressively really do need a cuddle. I'm thinking of that Matt Damon and Robin Williams scene in Good Will Hunting when I read your post.
